    Why do you say that? I have a DPMS and realize it is a budget gun. It seems to run fine. They seem to be looked down on here and I'm not sure what it is specifically about them that is a problem, other than the fact that they are inexpensive.

    I have the Troy MRF 13.8" on my DPMS. It seems pretty nice, but it also seems to have rotated slightly since I installed it. It wants to sit in the position it rotated to rather than being lined up perfectly with the receiver. I'm not sure why.

    Perhaps the bolt behaves differently in motion which effects the the way the gun behaves in recoil which effects group size when it's traveling across an empty magazine compared to having another cartridge to be chambered.

    Thanks. Glad the Tapco won't be totally useless. The Recon does have the free float handguard so I need that wrench. I'm going to try to remove it with a strap wrench first but I'm not overly confident it's going to work. It seems to be on there pretty tight.
