New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I agree that staying with one caliber has a lot of advantages. If I had to do it again, I'd still choose the AICS .223 magazines system for you bolt action rifle and simply seat the bullets out longer to 2.55 inches. It really turns the AR-15 version of the .223 Remington into a different...
2.5-10x32 Vortex FFP. Life time warranty, very good glass, lightweight and fast on target. I own one and wish I had more! Contact (via email or PM) Scott @ Liberty Optics for the best price. http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/members/libertyoptics.html Liberty Optics Riflescopes Binoculars...
The .300 Norma Brass is some of the very finest I've seen. It is excellent to use as a parent cartridge and short enough to use in a standard length long action. A 6.5mm-300 Norma Magnum has win-win written all over it.
Who considers a .22 Hornet good enough for Grizzly? How about the worlds largest polar bear? What was the worlds largest polar bear shot with? Thanks right, a .22 Hornet right down the ear channel.
So, do "REAL HUNTERS" shoot .22 Hornets when bear hunting?
This is what makes sense to me. Smaller is cheaper.

Seeing how much more often I hit a target shooting a 260 Rem verses a 308 Winchester, I have found it wise to turn this question around.
"What is the Terminal Ballistics of a missed shot?"
Thats why I do take a 140 over a 168, 175, etc. EVERYDAY of the week!
I'm very much an S&B fanboy but when it comes to an AR-10, I'd pick either 3-24x42 FFP March scope or the very inexpensive but amazingly good Vortex 2.5-10x32 FFP PST.
I picked the Russian primers, Tula, over all the Federal match, CCI match, etc. several years ago and I've never been disappointed. There is a reason why the top shooters in the country pick Russian primers.
I have used the MIL/MIL 10X Bushnell scope for years. At $200.00 it's a heck of a deal.

A Remington 788 chambered in .260 Remington. Weighs 7 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces. Has a 20 MOA Picatinny rail. It's an awesome shooter. Wickedly accurate and very easy and fast to handle. Mine comes with 4 Magazines, plus Brass, bullets and Dies for $500.00 shipped to your FFL.
I agree on the DTA. If I had the money I would definitely pick one up. I also get barrels and bolts for just about every caliber .338 and below. That would be so much fun!
Edit 2013-12-19:
The other awesome rifle would be a custom built Fulton Armory M1A Rear-Lug Scout rifle (18") chambered...
I've done the required internet reading on the .220 Thunderbolt (6.8 Rem SPC necked down to .223) but was wondering if anyone here has experience with the cartridge? I've found that 6.8 Rem SPC fits into my AICS .223 mags so I could get 2.50" C.O.A.L. which makes for a pretty fast cartridge...
the 2.5-10x32 with the XLR reticle is a combination I'll be very interested in.
