Ok interesting guys. Thanks for the input!

    Two stage trigger.

Also looking forward to a TT 2 stage. Thinking about one for my next build.

    Two stage trigger.

I have a Bix n Andy 2 stage tac sport pro and I really like the crispness and adjustability. For bolt guns, I really prefer 2 stage, but AR I run super light single stage. I feel like I have more control over exactly when I want the gun to go off for precision shots over single stage, plus I...

How important is rifle balance point?

Right good point. I was wondering if having rifles with big heavy barrels with more forward POB will have a tendency to rise less. I guess the support is very important to consider as well.

How important is rifle balance point?

I was just thinking about rifles and the question came up. So how does rifle balance point affect shooting and recoil? For example, if there are three very similar rifles, one with a balance point out past the mag well, another right at the mag well, and another closer to the trigger how would...

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

How funny, I was thinking about having PVA make me a barreled action in the future. However if that's in 6.5 creedmoor then maybe someone else can put it to good use. Thanks for the heads up!

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Thank you for the input! I was seriously considering something in 6 BR but since I also want to hit out to 1000 with some more authority, I feel that 6.5x47 Lapua will be my best bet. But that's some fantastic shooting!

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

That's great stuff to consider with 6BR family. The only problem may be magazine feeding because I want to build something in-between an F class and tactical rig. However, very good info! Thanks!

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Thanks for chiming in. Yes, I do reload for both right now. I also shoot a heavy 308, about 16 lbs with scope, very nice to shoot. I think I will go with the proven 6.5x47L. Thanks for your input!

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Thank you for the info. I think I am leaning towards the 6.5x47L, simply easier to load for and better barrel life.

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Interesting. Seems very close to 6 Dasher but maybe slightly less velocity? What ranges are you planning to shoot to?

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Sorry for the ramble. Basically, a good caliber that will get me to 1000 yards with about the same recoil as a 308 in 6.5/6mm. Thanks!

Advice for 6.5/6mm Short Action Caliber?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice on a short action caliber that will be used primarily for shooting out to 1000 yards. Main use will be target paper/steel and maybe even some "tacticool" use. I want something in 6.5mm or 6mm that has equal to or less recoil than a 308 Win. I already have...

McMillan A6 or Cadex Field Competition or Mirage ULR for long range shooting?

The J Allen stock is very expensive and out of my budget unfortunately. I looked at Manners but they don't have any adjustable butt pads and I don't think they offer any heavy stocks around 5 lbs. The vertical thumb grip is fine as I shoot a B&C stock on my .308. Yeah unfortunately trying out...

McMillan A6 or Cadex Field Competition or Mirage ULR for long range shooting?

Hi guys, I'm in the process of building a 7mm-300 win mag and want to shoot out to 1 mile or 2000 yards for target shooting only. I've been really thinking about stock vs chassis and these are some options I really like. My two most important considerations are controlling recoil and weight...

Spotting scope or Laser Range Finder: What's more Important?

Great, thanks everyone for the help! I think I will save up for a LRF in the future. First thing is first, getting a rifle built!

Spotting scope or Laser Range Finder: What's more Important?

Great, thanks Mildot. I already got the rifle part worked out, got a good scope, and I handload relatively proficiently so all I gotta do is get a LRF and get out there and shoot. Thanks for all the advice!
