Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

I think they compensate in accurange reticles where the vertical wire slots are actually a little bit to the left in the brass ring. In the Gen 2, the accurange reticle ring is different than the standard x-hair ring. I assume its the same in the gen 1s.

Help with a Kollmorgen Bear Cub 4x

I'm repairing it. I've done the Redfield flavor a number of times as they have a different erector, but this is Kollmorgen. I can pretty much find out myself once I take it apart, but I would like to know beforehand. These type 2 scopes are generally all the same, outside of the reticle...

Help with a Kollmorgen Bear Cub 4x

Email from Kollmorgen... Greetings Joe, Your Technical Help Desk # XXXXXXX: Schematics has had a recent update below: Joe, I have been here 7 years and had no idea what this was. I know that Kollmorgen started with optics, but never knew we made gun scopes until I did a search on this...

Help with a Kollmorgen Bear Cub 4x

Anyone out there with one of these scopes? The one with the cross hair imprinted on the eye piece. I have a friend who sent me one to fix, he bought it but it's completely missing the cross hair to the point where I don't have a clue where it goes. If someone has some pics with the eyepiece...

    M40 Build Guide

Some 95% stock, huh? Mine was a mess, they actually sent me another one. But I pillar bedded the other, it's friggin' tight. And it came out nice. I'm gonna hold on to the other one and fit it when I'm ready... Or build another rifle. Lol. Lord know I got plenty of scopes!! I had the...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Ok, the conversion is complete. Have to clean the lenses inside and out, tack glue some things. But... Gotta tell you. Generation 1 reticle conversions are going to be more expensive. Takes about 4 times as long as a generation 2, and is much more risky. A real pain. Here some pics...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Vinyl is fine for lye and acid, but acetone melts it to my hands.

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Minor issue... A little kink in the bottom stadia wire. Gotta pull the reticle apart again and restring that bottom wire. I usually check the wiring before I put it together, but you can normally see defects with the naked eye. This one is so slight. Also, you see from this pic there is some...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Reticle installed in erector. Pain In The Balls Gen 2 scopes are much easier... Stadia wires parallel, and perfectly parallel with crosswire. All the lye and acid is eroding my finger tips EVEN though I wear nitrile gloves... FOUR retaining rings!!! Tombstone in.. OD green. Pic does...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Ok kids, some more updated pics. Doing a little work while I run errands, drive my kids around. My wife has 3 store fronts, so she's busy on the weekend with those while I play Mr. Mom. I work in Manhattan during the week, so it's early mornings, late nights. Still find some time to do...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

Plastic. I think. I lost one about 2 weeks ago trying to do the same thing, so learned my lesson with overhandling. I actually lost this one too! if you pick it up with a tweezers, its shoots off. But, since I learned my lesson, I cleared all unnecessary crap out of the way and located it...

Converting a commercial crosshair Redfield to an M40 accurange Redfield

That's because it's located on the 2nd focal plane, hence why it changes size when you zoom. I never understood how Hi-Lux was advertising that their repro would have the tombstone on the 1st focal plane. It won't work.
