Gunsmithing Back boring muzzle end of barrel

I saw an article in precision shooting mag about something similar. They were testing different crowns to check for changes in accuracy. One was called a quiet crown and similar to what you are asking. They basically counter bored the barrel back from the muzzle end about an 1” or so. A big...

    Ideal bench size and features?

My first bench was just like that, worked fine but the MDF top or whatever it is isn't the best. Its kinda flimsy and isn't water resistant. You can always reinforce the bottom side of it or use a different piece of wood for the top.

    Harrel Powder Throwers

Yes and no. The variance I was talking about was the accuracy of powder thrown. But as Spak mentioned there are a lot of other variables. What I was trying to get at is the tightest tolerance available in powder thrown doesn’t relate to smaller ES. I bought a used 6.5x47 and weighed all the...

    Harrel Powder Throwers

In reality the numbers look screwy but it’s what I would expect with my Harrell. I get the same deviations they show. I think they had an SD (powder thrown) of around 11 with the Harrell and approx 3-4 with the Prometheus and A&D. All of those are pretty good.

    Harrel Powder Throwers

Watched the videos a while back and found the info pretty interesting. In the second video when they list the 6x47 data, if you look at just powder weight and velocity they don't always correlate. For instance Slowest was 37.56 Gr 2922 FPS Fastest was 37.60 Gr 2965 FPS 33 FPS ES with...

    SWAROVSKI BTX WITH MIL RETICLE

Looking for a spotter and would really like to have something like the BTX but also want a reticle. Is there anything out there that comes close other than a set of big eyes? I’ve used the big eyes and they are great but I’d like something a little easier to adjust between different users...

    Rifle Scopes S&B reticle shift

Here is another clip of the original. If you focus on the target on the left you can see the reticle move on the target and not all together.

    Rifle Scopes S&B reticle shift

No worries. Haven’t used photo bucket since they started charging. I admit that it doesn’t amount to much in the usable range for me. I’m never going to hold 10mils of wind, the targets in the background are 980 to the left and the 2 on the right are about 1300. Just wondering if others have...

    Rifle Scopes S&B reticle shift

The reticle rotates in the direction the mag ring is turned until the backlash is gone and then stops until turned the opposite direction. The short video above shows the movement. Model is a Schmidt Bender PMII 5-25x56 L/P DT P4 Fine FFP MRAD CCW

    Rifle Scopes S&B reticle shift

Looking for some direction on this one. Bought this S&B new a year or so ago and never noticed till now the reticle shifts when adjusting the mag ring. If it doesn’t get worse it probably doesn’t amount to much at the distance I shoot, however if it’s going to get worse I’d like to get it...

What are you using to monitor humidity in gun safe?

My previous house had a walkout basement and in the winter I used a wood stove to heat the upstairs. The temp swing in a day could be 40-50deg. The humidity would be drastically higher in the safe and I had an issue with brass turning green and had a cooper 22lr bolt rust shut so bad I sent it...

    Gun Safe

Very true, never thought I was going to move from my first house and ended up moving 3 times. It’s such a pain (and expensive) trying to find a company that can move large items like this. Multiple smaller safes could make it easier to relocate instead of moving one that weighs 1600-1800 pds.

Range Report Can't believe this happened... Whats the best group you've ever shot?

Shot this with my 308 and factory 167gr. Creedmoor Sports at 100yds. Couldn’t believe it when I saw it through the scope. It’s only 3 shots but my suppressor was heating up and starting to cause mirage.
