    No the A1 is clip slotted and the A3s are Lug slotted. So no is the answer on the A1 to A3 change out. There is are 2 scallop cuts on the clip slotted actions and no scallop cut on the A3 lug slot. It is completely different.

    The USMC hand fit all of the M40A1 Unertl mounts to the actions clip slot. The rear lug was taken down to fit the rifles action. On the mounts we build, it is the same way. They are oversized to accommodate for hand fitting.

    The first few batches of MST-100 scopes that US Optics built had the same font in size and shape as the Original Unertls did. The last couple of runs I have seen, the font is different. It is a different font and Larger. Anyone know what caused this to happen?

    I know both types were used. However, I was only issued rifles with the square cut crown. Seems like the style GA Precision more popular was at the end of the USMCs M40A1 tenure and at the begining of the M40A3 inception.
