    New Sig CROSS

I just switched to H4350. The small firing pin helps. Prime brass, 45.5 grs. H4350, Hornady 135 A-Tips. 3 shots average 2826 FPS. shooting 5/8" Time to go antelope hunting.

    Gunsmithing Trigger adjustment/cock on close

Most of what people are feeling is the cocking piece rotating out of its notch on the rear of the bolt. Reduce the height of the bump and things feel much better. I go as far as changing the angle of the ramp at the same time. Just about the last thing I want is less firing pin fall.

    New Sig CROSS

First everything and anything can affect accuracy. Rifles are like women, they all like something different. Even when different is the same thing. Safe higher pressures are not hazardous. And will not affect the useable life span of the rifle. High pressures will, to some degree, shorten the...

    New Sig CROSS

I was just screwing around with the folder on mine. I put a dab of grease on the lower locking surface and it made a noticeable difference on mine. Not as sticky. YMMV

    New Sig CROSS

I shot mine some more yesterday. All the Rl16, 45.0 grs, I could get in the case with a 130. 2720 FPS w/ 18 1/2" barrel. Pressure was pretty warm but no change in bolt lift. I did shoot one more factory 130 gr. offering. High pressures. Ejector pin marks. As expected bolt lift got harder.

    New Sig CROSS

It took a bit of cussing here to figure out how to get the stock to fold. There is a trick to it. Push the button down, put left pressure on the buttstock with the palm of your hand to relieve the pressure in the locking area, jiggle( technical term) and lift up. It takes some practice but it...

    Case splitting

Maybe we can all learn something. The light strikes could be from the disc blanked out in the middle of the primers. On blanking the firing pin travels to the rear. That's what breaks triggers. If the firing pin has enough rear travel and the tip comes out of any support area the disc gets...

    Case splitting

In order for the round to fire the rim would have to be within about .030"-.040" of the bolt face. The question I have is if it's GROSS headspace how did the firing pin reach the primer?

    Gunsmithing bore diameter variation?

For a cup and core bullets gilding metal and lead are very mallable. The bullet obturates to fill the bore. That happens in the length of the bearing surface of the bullet as chamber pressure is increasing. From then on the bullet matches the bore and groove profile. It's difficult to see any...

    New Sig CROSS

I have 260 reamers with the following freebore lengths. .040", .050", .060", ,080", .090" and .110" pick your poison. LH not for awhile. They can't catch up on RH models and with the surge in firearms sales, I/me wouldn't do anything to distract from current production.

    New Sig CROSS

Light and fast is where it's at. With a can it balances a couple of inches in front of the mag well. Easy to carry, balances well. Of course you can put a heavier, longer barrel on it and call it a long range rifle but I think it would be an odd bird being somewhat muzzle heavy. My two...

Gunsmithing Helicoil action lugs to increase torque?

    Gunsmithing bore diameter variation?

That would work. I do it with pilot bushings when I get curious. Obviously that's only part of the story but it's a start. I know of people that have made adapters for their cleaning rods and push bushings through the barrel. I cringe when I hear that. What could go wrong? I sometimes slug...

    Gunsmithing bore diameter variation?

I would not recommend pushing hardened steel of any nature through the barrel. As soon as size or straightness stops the pin gage damage has probably already been done. Slugging shouldn't be tried by everyone. I don't know who made your barrels but very seldom do two barrels do exactly the...

    New Sig CROSS

As you can imagine I couldn't wait to tear into this rifle. Yesterday was spent getting familiar with it. trying hard not to break something. Making tooling for assembly and disassembly. Today was a new barrel. Scrounging around the shop I found an AR10 Bartlein 6.5 barrel left over from a...

Gunsmithing Proof CF prefit barrel on Tikka T3x - Bolt Closes on no-go gauge but not on Field gauge

Your headspace is fine. I always recommend starting with new brass in a new barrel. Almost always leads to some problem if you don't.

    New Sig CROSS

No lug ways like an AI. Loading port is stout on top. Not so much on the bottom but probably strong enough. My mind works in Ft/lbs for bolt guns not inch/lbs.

    New Sig CROSS

I've gotten one in my hands and tore it apart this morning. Bolt disassembly takes 10 seconds. Barrel changes will require removing the scope base. Not complicated but requires some work and tools. AR wrench for the barrel nut. Still pondering how to hold the action. If you do take it apart be...

    Rem 700 Bolt Closes Hard

When you close the bolt you are compressing the ejector, moving the extractor to the side and at the same time the extractor is craving it's way around out side of the rim. The carving part is where the brass shavings are coming from. It takes a bit of force to do all that at the same time. I...
