New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
It’s not on a semi, but I have a Gen 2 little bastard on my 6mm Creedmoor AX barrel that I had to use some purple loctite (low strength) on to prevent it from loosening. I just put a tiny bit of that on the threads and it’s stayed put since.
I was thinking the same thing in terms of consistency vs. speed. My range maxes out at 330 at the berm, so I’m definitely looking for consistency over speed for my use, not to mention that I don’t want to beat up my brass or barrel chasing speed
I haven’t loaded anything yet, but was planning on starting at 2.800” OAL and see what happens there before doing a seating depth test after I figure out what my pressure test shows
Can you guys give me some advice if my starting point below seems okay to do an initial pressure test for my 24" Accuracy International factory .260 barrel? I've read a bunch of posts and think that I have a good starting range figured out but I'd appreciate some feedback before I get started...
My range stops at 330 yards at the berm and I’ve been using one of these 2.5” plates to add some challenge to the short distance. My only complaint is that it takes awhile for it to settle down after I hit it.
if you really want to frustrate yourself, they have a 1.5”plate as well...
No - I don’t think that type of issue is playing into what I’m seeing. I’m pretty conscious of not overloading the bipod (I did run into that issue when I was using the bipod strap on my mat - I fell into the trap of “if a little pressure is good, then even more pressure would be better” and ran...
I’m currently using a TBAC with the rubber feet (I’ve got the claws but haven’t installed them yet). My club has concrete pads, so I’m letting the bipod sit on that just in front of my mat. I was using an Atlas PSR prior to the TBAC and know what you mean about the “flex” (I always felt like the...
I do try to dry-fire at least a little when I first get set up at (usually about 8-10 pulls) but I definitely could always do more at home and at the range. I didn’t dry fire before these three strings since I had already done so before I shot my other group of the day; however, I can always do...
That makes sense, it’s just odd (to me at least) that it’s consistently the first shot in every group with this particular barrel. I took a look at some of my groups from the previous trip with this set-up and it’s a similar (first round flyers) scenario, unlike what I see with my 6.5 barrel...
I wasn’t sure where to put this question so I figured that I’d start here...
Question:
What could be causing the first shot of each of my three 5-shot groups from yesterday go wide? If you look at the attached picture, the first shot of each group is wide and the rest are stacked on top of...
Has anyone found a set of ear plugs that work well when shooting under a roof? My range has tin roof over the length of the concrete slab and I've never been able to find an "in-the-ear only" solution that works by itself. I always end up having to put a set of cans over top of the plugs. Has...
