    Which caliber is better

For the guys that recommended 20mm necked down, does that still qualify as a destructive device and come with all the associated headaches? Buy a 300wm or 338 lm/edge/rum and learn to reload and start shooting long range to hone skills/get experience. Not much has been said about optics.

Press choice and automated powder measuring - looking for thoughts on my situation

I started loading in separate steps - size 50 cases, then prime 50 cases, etc... Now, I have a little assembly line, instead of one press, I have multiple presses (Lee classic cast - cheap and SOLID, and can load 50bmg) lined up. I have the FL or collet sizer in one press and the seater in...

    Bolt in..... bolt out...

Some benchrest shooters have a leather bolt holder and always keep the bolt out when traveling. I never understood it.

    Upgrading reloading equipment

Get a concentricity gauge to see if you even need to upgrade. You can measure runout on every step to see what can be improved to make straighter ammo. (Unless you just want fancier gear on your bench)

    Any US Optics experts here?

What? Me answering his question of "why I care" is me trying to control the conversation? Some people have interest in older scopes, especially unique ones. I know it wouldn't be equal to today's best and I know USO isn't what it once was. Seems if it's not the latest and greatest - why talk...

    Any US Optics experts here?

I am an enthusiast in this hobby and optics interest me. I've been doing this since back when USO was one of the top brands. I posted on this 'discussion' forum about a scope that I was unfamiliar to discuss with other enthusiasts. I didn't buy it as my 3 minutes of google-fu failed to turn...

    Any US Optics experts here?

No it wasn't either of those. Ergo on the objective and just a really long ~35mm? tube with no power ring and their covered turrets. Not sure if the guy knew what he was talking about, but he said USO told him it was one of the first ones they made. The #2 may have been the model number?

    swfa scopes

I'm a high magnification fan, as I dabbled in short and LR benchrest for a bit. My only SWFA fixed power is a 20x that I keep around for working up loads on hunting rifles. I don't think SWFA has decreased in quality. If you're looking for other fixed power scopes below the BR 36x scopes...

    Any US Optics experts here?

A guy at the gun show had a rifle for sale with what he said was a very old USO. It was huge. It said US Optics #2 by the parallax markings. It was a fixed power, but it didn't say what power and the guy didn't know. It had the ERGO obj focus. It had a mildot looking reticle but there was...

    Strange Leupold scope

As of a couple years ago they still have "running deer" monthly shoots at a range here in Western WA. Cardboard cutout of a deer going across the range. Any centerfire rifle IIRC.

Talk me out of replacing my USO legacy scopes

Put one on ebay for a price you'd be happy with. If it sells, take it off the rifle and ship it and start scope shopping!

Chamberings for a switch barrel rifle

I have an Underground Skunkworks action in an AICS that I built a 7mm Rem Mag and 338RUM on. Works great, this was back when 338RUM brass was plentiful - glad I bought plenty. Thought about a 26Nosler or 264 win mag for the smaller round, but figured seeing hits way out there would be easier...
