"Semi Custom" rifle around 2k dollars

I have an AI AT with a 6.5 CM barrel on it. I want this rifle to be a 308. I've had probably 6 factory rifles that I've built up over the years. I want to try a professional built one this time. That's why I'm looking at the APR rifle. But I wanted to see what else was out there before I order it.

    First 308

I'm a 6.5 CM shooter and even I think that statement was dumb. OP... I had a friend with the Mossberg rifle and it was an okay hunting rifle. In my opinion it is a budget rifle. The Tikka on the other hand is a very well made rifle. Between those two I'd pick the Tikka by a long shot.

"Semi Custom" rifle around 2k dollars

I've read the statements "semi customs around 2000 dollars" multiple times in this site and others. I'm in the market for a semi custom rifle under 3000 dollars. My current plan is an APR Ranger at 2750. I'm looking for a 308 with a stock, I don't want a chassis. Use is recreational target...

    First precision rifle

The Bergara HMR is a nice rifle for the money. I have a few friends with them and they are good shooting guns. Aftermarket for it will be huge as it's a Remington 700 clone. The only piece that is really different is the barrel but that's something that a gunsmith is going to change anyways so...

Purpose built Sniper Rifle vs Precision/Competition Rifle

As to the original question, Id say the biggest difference between sniper rifles and competition rifles are durability and weight. Military sniper rifles are heavy because they are very rugged and overbuilt to survive being dragged through the brush, jumping from planes, etc... But they are not...

Purpose built Sniper Rifle vs Precision/Competition Rifle

I was never a sniper but spent a good amount of time around them out in bad guy country and Im friends with a few of them today. I was a designated marksman and a machine gunner, odd combination. I have squad mates that went SOCOM route and are still doing the secret squirrel shit. The military...

    .308 Winchester

Im looking to get back into shooting 308 after shooting other stuff, mostly 6.5 CM for several years. My old loading was using a 178 AMAX which Ive heard they dont make anymore. Rifle is going to be a 20 inch 1-10 twist. Probably going to use Varget for powder. My main range has targets out to...

    Army M24 Build Thread

Hey guys, great thread going on here. So Im looking to have a custom 308 built and I ran across the EuroOptic M24. It's not what I was planning on building but having an actual M24 would be pretty freakin cool, so Im kind of in a debate on which to do. Both are basically the same price. How is...

    6.5 CM load help/advice

Magnetospeed Sporter. I'll be shooting from 500 to a mile over the weekend. I know shooting my factory Hornady 140 ELD-M with the SD of 30+ the vertical starts to become a big issue past 1000.

    6.5 CM load help/advice

Im loading ammo for my 6.5 CM with a 22 inch Gradous barrel. Loads tested were 41.5 grain and 42 grains of H4350 Each load was a Hornady once fired case (through my rifle), a 140 ELD-M, Federal Champoin large rifle primers, Full length resizing, and loaded to 2.8 COAL. All done with a Lee hand...

    AI AE vs AW

Look up how to range targets with your scope. Its really not that hard. I keep the math formula saved on my phone. Like Supersubes said, you can range targets using a map measurement app on your phone. When I shoot out in the wild I always range my target first then see what the GPS says. It...

AI AT fixed to AX folder. Conversion Instructions and pictures

Starting a fixed AT to folder AT project tonight. This thread has been super helpful.

    AI AE vs AW

I'd keep the AW. Half of what you listed isn't a need. I ran a yoga mat as a shooting mat for a long time. You can get milsurp backpacks and rucks online for cheap. Cleaning supplies aren't that expensive. Learn to range targets using your reticle. Shooting bags can be had fairly cheap. Save up...

Rifle Scopes NightForce NXS 3.5-15x56 review ?

I had that same scope (maybe a different reticle) s few years back. Very good scope. It doesn't have the goodies more modern scopes have but it was a significant step up from the first gen Vortex Viper PST 6-24 that it replaced. If you don't mind the lack of zero stop and SFP, I think it will...

Best Factory 223 for a New Shooter

My good friend shoots the IMI 77 grain load out of his SPR and the ammo has been sub MOA at 100 yards and accurate out to at least 750 yards. Last time he bought it in bulk it was like 60 cents a round.

Best Factory 223 for a New Shooter

Both of those rifles are going to be a good option. See which one she likes better. My only reservation would be the proprietary mags of the Tac A1.

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

My friend trying out the AT. I cant remember the exact range of this target but if I remember correctly it's somewhere around 600 yards. The 140 ELD-M 6.5 still has a decent amount of umph at that range. 20190226_145733 by Chase Ditwiler, on Flickr

Rifle Scopes I Found the Best Optic at the NRA Show.

Shit... You can always put more contract coating on. Ill slap 300% more contrasting coatings on my Walmart Bushnell and turn it into S&B quality.
