    I do shoot FTR but with a custom 308. I may take this out next time around if the wind will cooperate with me. I just hate shooting the .223 because we have multiple winds across the club we shoot NRA high-power at.

    I took a neck sized case an set the 77 grain bullet in it then chambered it in my rifle. The bullet seated its self. You measure that with a micrometer then subtract fifteen thousandths so you are not into the lands. The stock is a bell and Carlson a5 I believe. Picked it up a while ago.

    I pulled my .223 5r out of the safe and decided to work with it a bit. found a load it likes. 77gr smk under 21gr varget. Here are some results. 100 yrd 3 shot group and 300 yrd 5 shot group out of a 223!

    Is it a piston driven or a gas rifle? If it is gas, this is a problem. If it is piston driven, then it is not. Or at least that is the way it works on my ar's.

    I am in search of a rail in FDE that will work with my mega upper. I want a quad rail. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard so many stories of rail systems not working with the mega. Want to make right choice the first time around.

    Rifle Scopes Ring size question after sticky

    Just to give a follow up. I ended up going with TPS 1.400 x-high rings. On the NF 56mm bell they work great. There is a very slight gap between the quad rail and the scope bell. Needless to say, I am happy and thank you for the advice. I hope this helps someone else in my similar predicament...

    2 more targets I used lapua brass and smk bullets but still shot off the bi pod. here are 2 more 10 rnd targets at 300yrds. It was a nice day but windy.

    I shot again with the lapua brass that my reamer was spec'd out to. My nk is .342 on it. I closed the groups up a bit. As soon as I can get pics up I will. Pretty pleased with this home build.

    Thanks guys. I guess I kind of have a thing for fat barrels ;) I think I will load some laupa match stuff up which is what my reamer was spec'd out with and some non pulled sierras and shoot it off a rest with bags at 300 yrds and see if I can improve that target a little.
