    Aero Solus rifle deal

I bought a barreled action from them for ~900, and then had a ton of problems getting the trigger hanger to fit a Rem 700 stock. Getting a KRG Bravo for 190 and not fighting the trigger hanger sounds like a hell of a deal.

Did I burn up my 6GT at a match?

It feels like people are conflating heavier bullets (which are understood to burn up barrels faster than lighter bullets, because the barrel and throat are exposed directly to flame/heat for longer) with bearing surface, which generally increases with bullet weight. Put another way, it is...

Barrel life 6.5 CM vs 308 Win

Barrel life also has a lot to do with your expectations. Is the barrel done when the groups double in size? Triple in size? I used to shoot a lot of 5.45 back when you could pay 7 or 8 cents a round for the stuff. I had a barrel that would keyhole every round past 25m. It looked like a shotgun...

ARC Mausingfield or Coup De Grace?

There are parts for these. And I think springs should be easy enough to find. It was a bummer to have to pay for a heavier spring on my Nuke 1.0 when it came out that the standard factory one was generating a lot of light strikes. I don't think they should have phased out the Mausingfield, but...

    FBI Sniper Rifles

There is actually a really strong use case for 6mm ARC (or something similar) in Recce type rifles. There is an awareness that the standard issue rifles really underperform starting at 90 - 110 yards, because the ammo no longer consistently expands, a byproduct of velocity loss due to short...

Geissele Mid Range Gas Gun for the low price of $6,500

They are fulfilling the mil contracts first. And I'd fully expect that the first civilian rifles offered will be the many that don't meet the accuracy requirements...

Geissele MRGG-S adopted by USSOCOM in 6.5 CM.

I've got a lot of time on actual gov SR25s. Really awesome platforms, but at such a weight penalty. It can do everything you want it to, mount NV, bipods, etc, etc. But 12-14 pounds starts to be absurd when you are just slinging 168 or 175 308 around, and that is without the can on it. I've only...

Geissele MRGG-S adopted by USSOCOM in 6.5 CM.

You manage to ruin every thread you post in with your constant BS. New steel! 2x the expected service life!!! New gas system! No recoil, and no port erosion! Great price, 1000% normal value!!! No one is saying it isn't a good weapon. Anyone that has been in this space for a while knows it is...

Geissele MRGG-S adopted by USSOCOM in 6.5 CM.

No, it is like comparing a Toyota Tacoma to a Toyota Tacoma TRD model that is priced at 3x as much. Are there small improvements? Yes? Are you getting 3x in performance? Likely, in almost all circumstances, no, you are not. A Ferarri is a race car with race car parameters. A Camry is an...

    Tuners in question ?

Ah tuners. Reminds me of a story. Years ago, one of the FBI's former HRT guys, then serving as a firearms instructor, boondoggled his way to Midsouth as an instructor. He ended up putting together a whole shooting curriculum that was swallowed up organization wide. One of his "epiphanies" was a...

    SAKO try 42a1 or trg22ai

Get a used 22 in .308. Shoot cases of ammo through it. Sell it for what you paid. Decide then. 300 WM/NM are great calibers but they don't make sense at 100-400 yards, which is what you will usually be shooting at. You can take .308 to 1000, and you will pay 1/2 or 1/3 per shot.

    SAKO 90- in stock

In their defense, their ring mount is pretty discrete and minimalist. So I get not having the Pic across the top, in terms of what you want for a wood and blued aesthetic.

    Match grade threaded 10/22 barrel

There are SOOOOO many great choices, you are overthinking this. Ultimately, I went with Kidd as I could get great accuracy and light weight, and threaded. But this thread is full of other good suggestions. 10/22 accuracy has been a solved problem for a while.

    223 80g ELDM 28"

Anyone have any luck with CFE 223? Pretty common here locally.

Best Semi auto 22 pistol as Supressor host?

This is one of the reasons the "super short" MKIVs are pretty popular, because 3" basically guarantees everything is subsonic. But a MKIV is designed to chew through the cheapest, dirtiest, 22 ammo you can find, and shoot it reasonably accurately. For folks looking for other hosts, the Cadillac...

Best Semi auto 22 pistol as Supressor host?

You just need a lighter mainspring, or to break it in. MkIVs are usually tuned for bulk High Velocity stuff. Mine screams on SV, but I run a 1 lb lower mainspring since I don't shoot the HV stuff in it very often.

    Tikka T1X

I also tried FGMM (30 rds @ 100 yards), which grouped slightly better overall, same price locally ($8/50), but had a higher overall ES. Still a better option than CCI SV most of the time, depending on your use case. For comparison CCI SV was ~4 inches, but there was a bit of wind. Still, group...

    Tikka T1X

You guys and your half MOA nonsense. I just shot 30 rounds (ETA @100 yards) of Eley Target today at the range, from a bench, good conditions. This was my group. I was very pleased to have found .22 ammo that cost less than $10 a box that was capable of shooting at around 2 inches with no wind.

Bang for your buck ammo suggestions

I have the same issue, and can't find the higher end stuff locally even if I wanted it (Alaska). I've shot CCI SV almost exclusively through my Tikka T1X, but it does seem lacking out towards 200, and now that I have a Xero, I'd noticed some pretty crazy ES while shooting it (70 - 80 across just...

Leupold CDS Dial for CCI Standard?

Good lord, the haters in this place. I have a CDS and I love it, for .308 168 FGMM. It works great. All it is dial markings for dope for that cartridge. You don't have to use it, you can just use the actual MOA instead, since the turret is marked with both. I have it on a rifle that I mostly...
