New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
All good advice above. Personally, I would opt for something in .308 over the .270, that way you have two guns that share the same caliber. Just my .02 cents.
Well, I ran the 185's up to 61.5 grains of H4831sc in Hornandy brass with no signs of pressure and very nice recoil. The best looking group was with 60 grains even though at 100 yards.
Just in case anyone is interested, I plan on testing some loads with 185 Bergers and H4831sc from 59.5 grns to 61.5 grns in.5 increments. Hoping to drive them in the 2800 range.
I'm interested in H4831sc load results as well. Any one have any suggestions, I'm sitting on about 6 lbs. of it. Plan on using a 185 grn. Berger out of a 26 inch 10 twist.
I'll be the oddball here.....6.5x284. Load it down to run like a .260 or load it up to run to its potential. With that being said, I'm currently thinking about opening my bolt face to make my 6.5x284 to make a 300 wm.
Really.....? I can see past that issue. I've never seen a rear sight be able to move this freely when the set screw is loose, which leads to my concern....will it loosen and cause a "failure" of the rear sight during prolonged shooting or rough handling?
So how loose is too loose? I just replaced the sights on my Sig TacOps 1911 with Trijicon HD sights, Novak cut. The original rear sight was really tight in the dovetail.......the trijicon rear sight is loose to the point it can be moved by hand with the set screw loosened up. When its...
Re: 16" .308 Bolt Guns - Accurracy
Matt....don't get down on the 16 inch barrel. I'm running a 16.5 inch barrel with 175 fed match (I also have tailored my handloads to match). I have no issue with accuracy out 700+ and have taken it out to 960 or so a time or two. I would assume it is for...
Re: Load data using the Berger 175 gr
My load to match the Fed Match is Fed brass, winny standard rifle primers, 175 smk with 42.5 grains of Varget......runs the same point of impact out past 700 for me as the Federal factory loads.
Re: USO 1.8-10x44 lowlight usage?
I second the point on the illum reticle, I've got one on mine. I'm also running a JNG MOA reticle. It is a little thicker crosshair but it makes it alot easier to pick it up in heavy brush. Good luck with your decision.
Re: USO 1.8-10x44 lowlight usage?
I'm running the same scope on my 16 inch 308, it works great in heavy timber and I've run it out past 900 on several occasions.
