Gunsmithing Modifying a 700 to use M1A Mags

I remember years ago in our rifle club the guys shooting hipower modifying bolt guns to accept m1a mags, anybody else have any experience with this? I know today we have bunches of bottom metal and AI mags but I'm just curious if its possible or practical. If it's been covered before sorry, I...

    Speed limit at tactical match's?

I did see them pull rounds at random from each squad at a prs match once, only time I've seen them close to enforcing it.

Rifle Scopes Is S&B still the gold standard of rifle scopes?

Although the line was built around and most of its products still are geared to the benchrest shooters I think the March are awfully good, I'm not sure they are quite up to the German optical quality but they have potential. The benchrest guys I know won't have any other brand. Their FFP line is...

Very confused. Dope changed big time? What caused this?

I don't think you can always explain it. I know when we all get pretty versed on all of the variables we should be able to figure it out. But I'm not sure you always can. Oh I'm sure if you had the right measuring equipment and could chart all of the variables maybe, but it's not practical...

Rifle Scopes SS HD 5-20x50 or NF 3-15 ?

You do give up 5x on the NF but I like it better, little more refined. I assume the NF ffp F1?

Advanced Marksmanship Shooting Skills: Sniper vs Competition Shooters

Some of the best shooters in our sport are exmilitary. They built the skills it takes to win competitions onto the fundamentals and practices they acquired in the military. I have also witnessed these guys work together as a team, they are awesome to watch. I don't think it's fair to compare...

Rifle Scopes Mount a scope upside down???

I had a rimfire semi auto that kept jamming all the time, 10-22 to be exact, left spent brass inside the ejection port, drove be crazy until I saw the little faint brass colored smudge on the windage knob of the scope. It was bouncing off the knob and going back inside and jamming it up. I...

Gunsmithing Hole not drilled in the center of the barrel blank?

So if the barrel heats up on a bore that far off of center does the heat expand the sides of the barrel differently causing the bullet to change impact point? We've all seen a light barrel move around after heating up. But to me the farther off of center the bore is the more affect heat would...

    best Calipers

Get what you pay for, honestly you can get by just fine with cheaper calipers. You can also buy import dial rather than digital. They feel a little rough when you compare them to the old school version but they work. You can also shop ebay for good used old school dial calipers, I bought a...

    Rifle Scopes One scope

When I started I swapped a NF around a lot. I used arms lever rings and they did fine, of course you need to rezero or like you said mark it somehow. On some rifles it was a couple of clicks either way, on some a couple of mils. But they are pretty consistent, those rails and rings pretty well...

Dont touch primers: Truth or Fiction

There is some potential lead risk from handling cast bullets but if you don't lick the gray off your fingers they're harmless too. Too funny!

Dont touch primers: Truth or Fiction

New one on me, can't say I've ever read it in print. Been reloading for 30 plus years and done everything from single load them to a dillon load tube to a primer flip tray. I would say 99% of what I load doesn't get touched unless I drop one, but my ammo doesn't sit around very long before I...

140 amax vs 142 smk - which one?

I usually shoot the 142's but have shot both, they seem to perform pretty well the same for me, BC almost identical. Usually your rifle dictates the one you'll shoot.

Any recent problems with 115 DTACS???

My only problem has been finding them! I have a few left but fortunately (not!) I shot my 243 barrel out so I've been shooting other calibers. I was hoping to get a couple grand more before I started shooting the 6mm again but he has been out all year.
