Rifle Scopes Full day with the Vortex 4.5-27x - Initial Impressions

Cleaver Firearms has them listed for $2990, cheapest Aussie price. I have ordered mine through Abelas as they will Match Cleavers price. NVT are selling them for $3140 others are selling them >$3500. Extravision (Vortex Australia) estimate they will arrive in Aus in the next two to three weeks.

I havn't got mine either yet maybe two weeks. If the underside of the existing rail is flat (without any machined lugs/pins). Would it be possible to buy a flat piece of picatinny rail, then cut it to length and drill & countersink the holes and have it cerakoted? If that was possible then I...

Has anyone had the standard rail off their AT yet and whats the underside look like? I was thinking of getting my smith to mill off some underside to reduce the height.

Could anyone give me the precise diameter of the bolt? I have contacted Dewey about thier bore guides. Brian Dewey has offered to make one up and needs a precise dimension. He needs to cut the guide within 5 thousandths for it to work correctly. If anyone else is intrested no doubt he could...

""Best"" "other" caliber for .308 AT rifle?

I'm going with 260rem due to the Lapua brass. I also considered 7mm-08rem due to having a better barrel life. But I decided if I wanted higher performance I had to accept faster barrel depreciation.

Maddco of Australia also made barrels for AI, they haven't done so for years due to the higher exchange $ AUD vs the UK pound. I have a blank on hold at Maddco for when my AT arrives in Aus, for a 260rem. They have all the profiles etc on hand from the contracts they had with AI. I'm pretty sure...

260 brass - What to do?

Hi fellas, I'm having big trouble finding reasonable priced Lapua 260rem brass (AUD$1.57 & $1.90 a piece & Nosler custom is $2 a piece). I have a new AIAT on the way and would like to have some loads ready to go. I can get Norma 260rem and Lapua 308win is plentiful and more than 1/2 the price...

    6.5x55 Swede users?

I have a Sako AV in 6.5x55z Swede. I run 129gr Hornady SST and Woodleigh 140's. Shoots incredibly well and is a pleasure to use.

A couple of quick questions: 1. What bore guides will fit this rifles action? 2. Has anyone had the standard rail off yet and whats the underside look like? I was thinking of getting my smith to mill off some underside to reduce the height. Cheers :)
