    75gr 22cal in a 1-9

I shot thousands of 75 A-Max through Remington 700 .223's with 1:9 twist and they always stabilized and shot great with no apparent detriment to the BC. I am at 3000 ft altitude which does help with stability.

    Barricade matches and “Possible” scores

Precision rifle to me should be about precision more than speed. I'd prefer to hit more targets on a difficult course of fire than to have a course of fire so easy that everyone hits nearly all the targets. The guy that wins based on time probably broke some pretty sloppy shots and got rewarded...

    I blew up my rifle!

What don't you understand about position 2 having full lug engagement? It's not partial. It's full. I'm done. You don't know how an AR functions and you aren't interested in learning from someone who does. Good luck!

    I blew up my rifle!

In position 2 the bolt lugs have full engagement. What is your point?

    I blew up my rifle!

The bolt has to rotate a lot for this to even happen. The bolt can't rotate until it's in the extension. If it rotates as much as your picture while it's in the extension then explain how it's an OOB condition?

    I blew up my rifle!

It's quite likely that the tapered part on the back of the lug was done during the explosion. Once it rotates close to open with 100,000 PSI pushing on it that portion on the edge could shear off. Might have been that way to start, but that is severe wear.

    I blew up my rifle!

Did you see the picture of the back of his lugs? Obviously it was in battery when fired. Your presence in this thread with your nonsense about your kaboom and how you misdiagnosed it is counter productive.

    I blew up my rifle!

That's exactly as intellegent of a response as I expected. The OP's bolt lugs were obviously engaged in the extension when the overpressure occurred. Look at the picture of the back of the lugs. They are deformed. Got a picture of the bolt lugs from your kaboom?

    I blew up my rifle!

The AR-15 design does not allow for the firing pin to be struck by the hammer unless the bolt lugs are already engaged in the barrel extension. The design would be incredibly unsafe otherwise. Either your gun was was out of spec in a bad way or you didn't have an out of battery detonation. Both...

    I blew up my rifle!

List of things that cross my mind: 1. Barrel Obstruction 2. Double Charge 3. Left over powder of a different type dispensed into the first round I don't believe a case head separation of the normal type would be that catastrophic. This looks much more like extreme overpressure with the case...

    22 Creedmoor light bullet twist

If the goal is 55's as fast as possible I would stay away from a 1:8 twist. No reason to risk blowing up light weight varmint bullets when even a 1:12 will stabilize them fine. 1:9 would be an excellent choice and at Creedmoor speeds will even stabilize a 75 ELD-M.
