    Sticky bolt/hard to extract.

I have this rifle in 223 and it seems to be ok on primary extraction. I think the big issue is not enough shoulder bump in sizing. Also Im not sure of the accuracy difference between the 2 rifles but a round I picked in my first load box got me just under a 3/8" group at 100 with sierra GK's off...

    Ring just above shoulder

These appeared after firing or after sizing? I had an issue with a rifle I purchased from a real crappy smith and the chamber had a ring on it because his chamber cutter was nicked. But that was very pronounced and if this just started happeningthat is most likely not the case. if the ring is...

In need of some resizing help

I just finished prepping 3000 223 cases some 1 fire some a couple fires. and out of the 3000 I got a few of these that did the same thing. I actually tried running it all the way and started scraping brass off the sides of the case. I didnt bother questioning it as it was 223 and cheap

    Choosing My First Reloading Setup

Basically....Yes, Im sure he has some sort of pistol that he sometimes shoots the cost to add a pistol round to loading is very little, a cheap set of dies and a conversion kit if necessary. Its how I started and it made jumping into rifles much easier. And my point on spend on the press was...

    Choosing My First Reloading Setup

Id say if your starting out start with pistol loading. Its less stuff to buy and you learn some of the process. After that spend big on the press and small on the little replaceable items. I went dillon 550 on press Dillon Carbide 3 die set then upgraded seating die Dillon scale and small...

    Reloading Room Lighting

I lucked out when I moved in that I have a high traffic type semi finished basement. Cheep carpet/sheetrock/drop ceilings. Room is conditioned and lit with florescent and I added a flat panel led over my bench. I havent noticed an issue with florescent and my chargemaster. But I can check it out.

Best how to book's for reloading

I liked the Sierra manual to start, its clear and I like the removable pages. Between that and Youtube you can definitely start. Also I usually tell people looking to start loading to start with a pistol round, something straight. 9mm /45. Its a shorter process/less prepping steps. Once you get...

    "Precision Reloading"+Dillon 650+Mk7 Auto Drive?

In talking to a small ammo production plant. The Mark 7 is awesome for the 30 second clips you see on youtube but they are extremely finicky and you will spend more time setting it up and tuning it on a constant basis then it would take for you to just run it yourself. Im also in the 2 toolhead...

    Dillon 650 AND single stage?

I started with a 550 and added a rock chucker for 308 and grendel Its time consuming using single stage and at my level of shooting I dont really gain anything out of it. I just recently bought conversions for the 550 for these 2 rds and for the time being Im going to size and trim with the 1200...

Question for those that wet tumble

I prefer tumbling with primer. I run 2 hrs or so with dawn/lemishine then put in hornady case dryer for an hour http://www.cabelas.com/product/HORNA...ER/2222255.uts . It ends up clean and dry. Then size/deprime and trim in the press. then put in dry tumbler for an hour then use pocket...

Case Neck Tension with Stainless Steel cleaned brass

    Case trimmers

I bought a dillon 1200 a few years ago and just finally set it up. I take 200 rounds of say 223 and lube it in a ziplock and run it through the press size stage 1, empty stage 2, trim stage 3, empty stage 4. Its loud with vacuum and trimmer running but i have some decent headphones and I have...

    Quality Vibratory Tumblers

I have owned the dillon CV-500 for 15 years or so. And it has always gone strong. Ive added a a big dawg wet tumbler to the mix a few years ago And the brass is so much cleaner but it is a pain in the butt. Im actually looking to buy another dry tumbler and I cant find any reason not to go with...

New to Dillon. Any dies work on the press?

At a minimum you need a caliber conversion kit(shell plate, brasslocator pins, powder die piece). most 7/8 dies should work you can use the powder die and toolhead you have Easier to get an extra one of each for faster swap time you will need to change out primer mag, primer seating piece you...

    Groomsman Gift Ideas?

Some seriously good ideas but a bunch say flashlights i cannot deny the masses. Olights it will be and perhaps a range day on top. They have all been with me but didn't get bitten as hard as i did 8 years into the hobby and i could have bought a Porsche with what i've spent.
