    Desert Tech TRASOL Official Thread

Waveslayer, I’m kind of late to the TRASOL party... Saw all the shitty reviews, didnt bother to download. From what you say, it might work OK on an Android platform? I am currently running a Samsung Galaxy S5 (old tech...) but due an upgrade in Oct. (probably S9) Can you tell me what Android...

    Gunsmithing Sako quandry

Hi Powerline, Thanks for that. I have the bottom metal from the Sako, and the bottom metal from my Howa lying around the house. I also have a couple of Rem 700 DBM bottom metal bits lying around. I just wonder how difficult it would be to make the Sako a DBM system...

    Gunsmithing Sako quandry

Hi, Thanks for the lonely reply. Where is the love for Sako????? Yep, I'll give McMillan a call. Couple of guys here in the UK I can ask, not least of which is my Smith. Lots of love for Sako here, anytime you feel unloved.... Neil

    Gunsmithing Sako quandry

Hi Guys, I am having a .260Rem built on a Sako 591 action. Talking to my Smith, all the metal work should be done in the next couple weeks. However, I intend to fit the barreled action to the stock myself, doing the bedding work myself saves a considerable ammount of money. (My Smith...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

Most STUPID thing I've ever been told; This won't hurt a bit... Shooting related; "My .270 is zeroed at 1000" The shooter in question then proceeded to demonstrate how to pattern a shotgun, with said .270, oh, at 100 meters. Perhaps the meters aspect confused him. Clearly the .270 was...

    F T/R Competition New F-Class Division

Well, I would!! My best rifle (most accurate) is a 7mm-08Rem. All up, the whole rig probably costs less than one of those fancy joystick front rests. Yes, I could turn up at my local F-class club, and I could shoot, errrr, against myself. But no matter how much I might improve, I'm going...

    Missing 777

Well, no, but going into Houston one dark and stormy night, having been re-routed down the Eastern seaboard instead of overland, we were EXTREMELY short of gas. 1 approach, then a "MAYDAY" if we went around, low fuel state QRH, and radar vectors by the shortest possible route to San Antonio for...

    Missing 777

Well, actually, NO. The writer of that piece is not a commercial pilot. He clearly doesn't understand the limitations of TCAS, the difficulty of SEEING another a/c (It's a BIG sky!) and the difficulty of finding then formating on that a/c. Ask any military pilot, formation flying is not easy...

    Missing 777

Usually the phone picks up a cell at around 6000', can be very embarrassing when you get a message from the dark side just as you're lining up on the ILS! N

    Missing 777

This is a really good article. It would be really interesting to see the cargo manifest. I like this theory. My money is on LIPO batteries. Don't ask in open comms. And if you pm me, DON'T quote me. N

    Missing 777

2Hrs reserve fuel? Maybe 30 years ago, when Jet A1 wasn't $400 a tonne. These days, reserve fuel for, lets just say a MAJOR international airline, is 15min at 1500' at the PLANNED landing weight at the planned destination airport. Contingency fuel will be dependent upon the destination, but...

    Rifle Scopes Mk4 outdated?

Can't argue with that, but if you DO want a MK4, just get M5 turrets fitted by the Leupold custom shop. I paid something like $120 for the privilege. mil/mil, good to go!

Any 777 pilots here? Can the cabin pressure be shut off at the cockpit?

Sorry, but this is the comment that riled me. I had been polite and non personal up to that point. THAT comment was not warranted. N

    Practicing trigger control.

That GADGET is something Jacob knocked together to show what BAD trigger pull looks like. It is NOT a device for practicing trigger pull. You already have a device for practicing your trigger squeeze. It's called a trigger and one is fitted to your rifle, RIGHT NOW!! If you ASK Jacob how...

Any 777 pilots here? Can the cabin pressure be shut off at the cockpit?

Man, Both hockey sticks will have passed each other at F450!! Bear in mind I haven't flown the BLT in 12 years or so, but, we have a switch to DROP the o2 masks, but not a switch to STOP them from coming down. STOPPING 350 pax from breathing?? That's counter intuitive! I'd have to look at...

Any 777 pilots here? Can the cabin pressure be shut off at the cockpit?

Fix is a relative term....... A deferred defect entry into the ATM is NOT fixing the problem.... Typical engineer's attitude. Oh, and Dude, the transponder DOES have an off switch. Patently, you're not an avionics guy. N
