PRS Talk Rear rest for barricades

I saw someone shooting with a tripod with a bag on top as a rear rest at a club match. It seems unsporting to me. Not cheating, but unsporting. I feel like it takes all the personal challenge out of it. You could bring your rifle mounted in a vise with bags underneath and clean most stages, but...

    good quality scope mounts ?

I have a JP mount that I have been pleased with. My zero has never moved. They are priced a lot better than a lot of similar mounts too. https://www.jprifles.com/1.6.3.6.php There are no downsides to having a 20moa mount. It just means you are less likely to run out of scope adjustment when...

    Favorite underwear. No seriously!

Those Saxx look nice, but they are pricey! Believe it or not, for 2 adults and 5 kids, we keep our clothing budget at $30 a month. We often will check thrift stores and buy clothes from individuals; that is, everything except underwear. So one pair of Saxx would cost the whole month's clothing...

    Favorite underwear. No seriously!

Never again will I buy Fruit of the Loom's. 2/3 of them had a torn seam after the first wearing. So I'm looking for recommendations. No briefs, just boxer-briefs or boxers. And for all you smart-alecs, I'll beat you to it: "The ones on the floor with the dress".

Bino's - useful or expedient for spotting at precision rifle matches?

Do any binoculars have a reticle? That's the advantage I see in (some) spotting scopes. You can not only call impacts but call angle adjustments.

How do you get your new toys into the house without pissing her off?

We already have a minivan. When that dies (which might be soon) we are going to upgrade to a shuttle bus! I want it painted muticam, but she objects!

How do you get your new toys into the house without pissing her off?

I've been married for 6 years, 5 kids, and we've never had a fight. I work, and she's a full-time mom. She says since I earn the money, so she has no problem with me doing whatever I want with it. I am super frugal (hence the username) and pretty minimalistic, so I really think hard about...

my 3part playlist for the GEN2 annealeez! overview, how to make my "trap door" mod, & how i anneal!

I'm not understanding why you went to the trouble of making the "trap door". Wouldn't it be easier to just wait to load your brass?

Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

I lived in Lake Jackson from 2007 to 2017, the last 5 at the intersection of Oyster Creek Drive and Yaupon. Good deal on that lathe. I wish I had beaten you to it! The machining that is used in most gunsmithing is actually very basic, so it is something you could realistically learn in your...

Maggie’s The Welding and Metalworking Thread

I've always liked teaching people to machine. It's pretty satisfying when you get to teach someone who listens and gets it. And by listen, I don't mean not thinking for themselves, I just mean considering what I say and valuing the experience behind it. But it's really frustrating when you have...

    Ftw TX

@Tunnuh now I'm going to have to figure out who you are. I shot my first ntxprc match last week, and observed the one last month. And I won the drawing for the custom paint job! @Shortrangelong I highly recommend coming to a ntxprc match. Shooting one only costs $40, and it is a ton of fun. I've...

@Snuby642 @Shortrangelong I was at the show today and will be again tomorrow. If you see a guy with 5 kids and a sign on his back advertising a Remington 710 for sale, that's me!

I used to drive through Hitchcock every other week on my way from Lake Jackson where I lived to Texas city. The only thing it is known for is the dog track.

North Texas Precision Rifle Club -- August club match

Thanks! I'll have to try out your finger-over-the-barrel tip. I may have to wear a glove though! I'll take any other pointers you can give. 74 out of 76 (I think) is crazy! I can't wait until the next match!

How did you do? I got 40, which is much better than I expected on my first time, but there was plenty I could have improved.

Rifle Scopes Vortex HD gen II 4.5-27 question

Here's another mounting option: https://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPFTSM-34-20 That is a JP one-piece mount with 20 moa built-in, and 1.47 to centerline. I got mine used with my 4.5-27 razor gen2. I have been happy so far, and can't imagine having any problems with anything moving. The...
