    I've been thinking of getting a "scout" rifle based loosely on Jeff Cooper's ideas of what this should be but am not sold on Ruger's or Steyr's rifles. Has anyone built one on a Remington 700 action? What did you use for iron sights and scope base?

    Re: AI-3 Contour I think the A1-3 is the most comfortable stock made. I say go with what works best for you. Just have it inletted for the contour you have and it will look fine. If you are concerned about both looks and weight then get a heavier barrel and have it fluted.
