Re: stock for remington 264mag
The HS precision stock is actually relatively lite compared to all that is out there. look at some of HS precisions other offerings of maybe a bell and carlson. Those should let you break even if you sell the original stock.
Re: Lever action front sight issue
It looks to me like this site isn't original to the rifle. It also looks like someone used the wrong sized dovetail on just made it work by peening the rear slot wall to tighten up the fit. A good gunsmith could fix this no problem but honestly for the...
Re: Surgeon Action Question
I am going with the 1581XL action and a set of 3 bolts for a single shot test bed rifle to try out different calibers and bullets all in one action. But I will never carry the rifle at all as it has a nice wheeled case waiting for it to be built. And it will...
Re: Build research 30-338LM !!!
I was planning on doing a 30 super magnum build for shooting the new berger 230 hybrid bullets but in order to take advantage and have any chance of safely getting up to the 3000fps window you need a big boiler room and at least 28 inches from what research I...
Re: Rough area on new B&C stock - is this normal?
It looks like it was just a bit of mold flash. I prefer it if an item comes with that as it shows they didn't remove to much material and left enough for final fitting.
Re: I need a little help on barrel twist
I have several 6.5 caliber rifles and the only one with an 8.5 twist is my grendel as it shoots the lighter bullets anyway. Give the 130 bergers a try as the 260 can push them fast enough to give the 140 class bullets a run for the money. Don't get...
Re: PMAG's Opinions on Feeding & Function
Military must think pretty highly of them to ban them and within a month withdraw the ban. Military rarely moves that fast.
I only use 30 round Pmags for shooting my AR. They work and I got them by trading in all my metal mags so it cost me nothing.
Re: .223 Suggestions?
I bought a rem SA in 223 but it gave me massive extractor headaches so I traded bolts with a man up north and picked up a used 308 barrel and shoot that now. If I was to go with a 223 bolt rifle now I would go with the savage just because I like the factory F class...
Re: Thoughts on a hunting scope for my setup? POLL
I bought a MK4 1.5-5 the other day and will be getting a larue mount for it just so I could swap it around between hunting rifle and my AR and other semi auto's. I have a personal fondness for low power scopes and reddots as I have spent...
Re: Anybody ever run a can on a Kimber Montana?
Just try it at the range by shooting 3 rounds at a steady but expedited pace to see how the heat affects it. Besides you should really only need one and if a botched shot two. On long strings of fire though like my M1A I purchased a shorter...
Re: Need 155 gr.SMK for my 6.5 Swede
There is a man in california that makes custom VLD style 155 bullets for sale. I bought a hundred but never got around to trying them before shipping out. Can't remember the name but if someone is interested I can find it for them.
Re: Timney installed = tough bolt lift
Is your caming surfaces greased properly? I would double check by reinstalling the original trigger just to make sure that something didn't get altered on the receiver by accident say a bur or something during the timney install. If it does the same...
Re: IS 6MM AR THE SAME AS A 6X45?
the 6x45 is a necked up 223/556 great for shooting light bullets with a decent velocity.
The 6mmAR is a very specialized and very different cartridge. It is a necked down 6.5 grendel and it shoots the heavier bullets much better. As far as getting one and...
Re: Fast Twist short barrel 300 Win Mag
I was considering a short barreled magnum possibly a RUM recently but I am now looking at maybe a WSM or the RCM in 30 for shooting the same bullets as your rifle. I am looking forward to range report on this. For me short barrel is 22 inchs as I...
Re: Gunsmithing & Jewell trigger for an M99 in .416
Ok wow were to begin. Lets do this in order.
1. A jewel trigger is not the most robust trigger in the world and you are wanting to put it into a 50. The jewel triggers were designed for much lower pull weights that 2lbs and you could...

I have an old acquaintance from my army unit that happened to get a very short cameo on disc 3 of their precision dvd set. He was a cav scout that went through sniper qualification and made it and a damn nice person as well.
I am trying to contact magpul about getting him a copy but every...
Re: Deployed troop seeking advice
All units in theater are authorized the M14 EBR. I mean ALL units. It is up to the unit to officially ask for what they want. Biggest kink in this is supply not wanting to do anything they consider extra around here. My shop has reported several specs...
