I started shooting midrange matches last year and do like my 6 BR with an 1/8 twist barrel for the 600 yard matches. I have not had a chance to shoot beyond this range and I can see the ballistics are not that great in the 900 + yard range. I would like to hear from some shooters that shoot...
I am considering purchasing a used Remington 700 in 7mm Mag. I would like to use the action and rebarrel to 6.5x55. Would I be able to do this and use the existing 7mm mag action. I believe the 7mm case head diameter is 0.531 and the 6.5x55 is 0.4803. This seems close, but I would like to be...
I hope to receive my new Savage F Class rifle in 6 BR during the first week of December. I would like to shoot in a large regional midrange / F class during the last week of December in Florida. I have brass prepped and ready to load, but I am waiting for the rifle to see how far I should set...
I do some reloading for pistol and rifle but so far I have not reloaded a belted magnum cartridge. I purchased a new rifle in 300 Win Mag for elk and bear hunting and possibly some long range target (steel) shooting and I would like to reload my own ammo. I have heard and read that there are...
Re: TVP Intimidator/short course schedule
Pardon the question - but what kind of price range are you at with this set up? This is a rifle that I have been thinking about a lot. Perhaps I will see you at TVP this weekend.
Re: Recoil Induced Headaches
Thanks for the suggestions. The more I read and the more I get into position without shooting I am thinking it is more of a position/fitting problem that is even more aggrevated by recoil.
I have been all around the internet looking for some good information on...
Re: Recoil Induced Headaches
I have a muzzle brake, but you are correct, they cannot be used in NRA long range matches, which is some of what I shoot. Keep the suggestions coming.
Re: Can a muzzle brake effect accuracy?
I had a brake installed on a Model 12 Savage heavy barrel in 308. It helped quite a bit with recoil, but it did change my impact about 2" higher at 200 yards. Unfortunately, the 2" difference does not stay constant out to 1000 yards so the ballistic...
I have developed what I believe is a strong association with medium to large caliber (260 & 308) rifle shooting and what I call recoil induced headaches. I used to get these quite a bit with shotgun shooting until I started creating lighter loads for my 12 gauge and getting a better fitting...

A friend of mine recently tried a new powder - IMR 8208 XBR in his .308 and he states it dramatically decreased his group size. I will be loading for a 260 Remington in the next month and I can only find loads for relatively light bullets on the Hodgdon site or anywhere else for that matter...
I will be loading 260 Remington in about a month and decided that I would look to you guys for some suggested loads. I am a pretty experienced reloader with .223 and .308 so I know enough to back off a bit at the start. Give me your best shot. I will be shooting a Broughton 1:8 twist 28"...
I am new to long distance shooting. I have been an avid handgun and shotgun reloader for some time and never really worried about variations in the brass affecting accuracy in my USPSA and IDPA pistol loads. I purchased 1,000 rounds of once fired 308 brass from Scharch and I will be working up...
