I see they filed for bankruptcy. How were they? Good, bad, etc.?
I have my eye on one in 6XC but, I'm a little reluctant to pay over $1K for a rifle with shelf ware and no factory support.
The Mod2 gas system on my LPR makes it a really nice and soft shooter. I have an LMT MRP rifle and find it to be too heavy and not up to my KAC LPR goodness. The new KAC Mod2 SR-15's may not get a lot of good press coverage but, they are a top choice for a premium AR-15 style rifle.
The gun shows used to be a good source but, things have changed a lot. Try Big Town in Mesquite and Market Hall in Dallas. Don't waste your time or money in downtown Fort Worth.
How does this upper shoot with common target and defense loads ($15 give or take a few bucks per box, no entry level blaster ammo)? Right now I'm shooting Gold Dot 64gr loads for general use FWIW. Will this barrel stabilize 77gr target loads (my friend uses DCM/CMP competition loads) and I...
There are some good deals on the Steiner P4Xi with free mount that I would give strong consideration too.
For the realistic ranges most have with this cartridge, I don't see a great deal of advantage for higher magnification or cost. There are specialized cases for something else but, for me a...
Opticsplanet has some real good deals at the moment with gift cards and 15% off. I can't speak to these scopes but, I have my eye on another one (or two). ;)
Vendors on this site will treat you well too.
How do the Steiner P4XI and Vortex Viper PST GII 1-6x compare against each other other than the obvious 4x vs. 6x difference? It looks like the Turrets on the Vortex might be better but I'm seeing some really good reviews on Steiner's glass quality and they have a free scope mount rebate right...
ACOG eye relief is a concern however, I have some ex-mil buddies who absolutely swear by them. The price is a bit off putting and, to be honest I doubt I will ever need a 'war' optic that can take the beating an ACOG overseas can.
The Steiner P4XI and Vortex Viper PST GII 1-6x are two I have...
People who shoot the 300BO like they would a 30-30 are generally picking their shots so that the 300BO will work since it isn't over extended trying to perform far beyond its capabilities. Those that don't, tend to overestimate its potential and are disappointed. While a 30 carbine may or may...
The 300BO needs better shot placement from me on the larger hogs to hit vitals. The 6.8 hits harder so body shots have more effect which while not ideal will normally do the job. Running away from me, 5.56 is just a waste of ammo, 300BO is iffy and, the 6.8 generally slows them down enough to...
What is the platform for the scope? AR-15
What cartridge are you shooting? 223/5.56 lightweight (40gr-62gr)
What is your intended use for the scope? Coyotes inside 200 yards with a rare 300 yard shot
What type of conditions will you typically shoot in? Early morning and late evenings and...
After reading up some more on the various options, I was tempted by the $400 MidwayUSA Stoner upper in 22 Nosler but, I read a lot of bad reports on the barrels themselves so ruled that out. The 22 Nosler doesn't really appeal to me. I could always go with a 6.8-22 and skip the Nosler brass...
First, I'm not into saving hides or meat. I kill more hogs in bad week then I will eat in a year plus, pork is so cheap around here it isn't worth the effort to skin it out either. While my friend likes to skin Coyotes, I haven't seen or felt the need to skin one yet. Ear hole shots on swine...
