    Because you can easily pop the magnifier off when you don’t need/want the extra weight, or switch it from gun to gun in 5 seconds.

    Factory-collimated clip-ons are great but they can still have some POI shift, and if you add an unstable mount, that is no different from “tolerance stacking” in any other setting.
