    Well, thanks for all the advice. However being the internationally known cheapskate that I am, I opted for the 'open box' Athlon Midas TAC 5-25×56 APRS3 for $750. I'm sure it will be a big step up from my usual 'Joe 6 Pack' rifle scopes. AT least I hope. 🤯

    I just ordered a 300 PRC and the only appropriate powder I've been able to grab is N565 so I am interested in N565 load data. And I got 500 Hornady A-Tip 230s to start with.

    It looks like I will be relocating to the Sweetwater/Athens area in a year or 2. I was wondering if there are any long range ranges in eastern TN? I did a search and came up with nada. I know K&M is in Hooterville in west central TN, but that's about 5 hours from Sweetwater. Thanks.

    I've got a Ruger PR 300 PRC coming and I'm trying to decide between the Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30×56 APRS1 ($1199) or the Cronus BTR 4.5-29×56 APRS1 ($1399). Is the Cronus worth the extra $200? I assume it is, but would like confirmation from you smart guys. I'm normally the $300 SWFA guy. :)

    Angled VS Straight Spotting scope?...

    I have a straight Razor HD 20-60 x85. I've tried using angled scopes but I have trouble getting them aimed efficiently. I'm sure I could eventually get used to an angled, but I prefer straight.

    If OP had said they only want to shoot out to about 800yds I would suggest trying a 6.5 Grendel. Even less recoil than the 6.5 Creedmoor but pretty good out to 800 yds.

    Rifle Scopes SWFA 5-20 HD - Do the really stiff zoom/focus rings ever loosen up?

    I have the Aadland gripper for the focus ring which helps, but it's still too stiff. I have the MK throw lever for the zoom ring, and it's still WAY too stiff. I have to get a firm grip on the rifle if I'm going to change the zoom or it will fall over from the tripod legs.

    I've shot about 1000 rounds over 2 years with my SWFA 5-20HD and the zoom and focus rings are still astonishingly stiff. Is there hope that they will loosen up over time or is there something I can do to assist the loosening process? Send it in for service? Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply/information. It seems that the Ruger RPR magazines are made by (same as) Accurate Magazines. Do you know if the Ruger version of the magazine has the binder plate or not? I assume (unfortunately) that the Ruger version has the binder plate?

    Good powder I can use for a 223

    I have had very good results with 8208, Lapua brass, and 75 A-max. 24" McGowen barrel.
