Need Input on Home Internet/Wifi (rural area)

I am a big fan of hard wiring everything if possible. Only thing that isn't in my house is phones, nest, and wife's laptop. Usually most wireless routers also have switches on them that you can plug a RJ45 cord into and run upstairs. I think the wireless part of the utilities router started to...

    Anyone here ever patented something?

I'm am an inventor on a patent. The company I work for owns all of the IP. The only real reason we patent stuff is to stop competitors from copying and coming into our market. When you look at a lot of patents they are not that hard to get around and to produce a product that does the exact same...

Guage and thickness of steel for ELR

What he said. I work at a company that does a lot of laser work so we always have round cutouts that are scrap. Paying scrap price is magnitudes cheaper than buying new steel and paying someone to cut it.

    Anschutz 64

Why not a 54? Had 1 64 action because it was too good of a deal to pass up and it didn't shoot nearly as good as the comparable 54 that I got after the 64. The 54 is heavier so if you are trying to make weight for silhouettes or something than I can see. For general shooting get the 54.

    Eley Semi-Auto Benchrest Precision

Velocity is going to depend on barrel length(is all the powder burned) and the barrel diameter(a .224 barrel will be slower than a .2242 barrel).

Gunsmithing Sling swivel studs rotating in Tikka factory stock

Loctite will not really do anything significant with the coarse threads they usually use on the injection molded stocks. A 2 part epoxy would be the way I would go.

    Rifle Scopes Favorite Scope Mount

Everyone's recommendations above are all very good mounts. I would echo the 20 MOA of angle built in and make sure it has some offset so you can get the correct eye relief.

    Tough decisions

My dad loves his Tikka T1X. He comes from an Anschutz background so he is a hard man to please. Both the Tikka and CZ will have lots of accessories to choose from as far as bases, trigger goods, and stocks. Scope recommendation will really depend on what you are trying to do with it and how...

Gunsmithing Finding unknown Torque value of a screw?

mcameron posted one to Fastenal above but that is the recommended torque to get a set clamp load. Most of the time you do not want that much clamp load. You put that much clamp load on an action screw that is in a cheap stock and you will thread the action screw right up through the stock. Being...

    Gunsmithing Nitride actions ?

Agreed. Most stainlesses are changing phases at nitride temperatures. Not saying you will have an issue but is you do it's probably going to be a brittle failure and not pretty.

Gunsmithing Finding unknown Torque value of a screw?

I will admit I'm not sure what a CSSHCS is. Assume it's some type of socket head cap screw. Either way you don't want to heat up a fastener with external threads like a a screw. You want to heat up what it is threaded into to expand it. You actually want to cool down to shrink the fastener with...

Rifle Scopes Questions on switching scope between rifles: Repeatable rings, Razor G2

Like everyone else said if you do decide to go the separate scope for separate rifle route to make sure to get similar reticles. I find that even switching between scopes with MOA holds I have to really think to remember how big the holds. You find a scope that you really like, buy a bunch of...

Gunsmithing Adding LOP to Remington 40X repeater.

I think the shotgun style will be nice. They are not to hard to get sanded down to match the profile of your stock with a decent belt sander. I have always hated the look of the McMillan or Manners spacers. You will need a box of spacers and it might not be very sturdy with that small of screws...

Rifle Scopes What rifle scope for Light 308 Rifle

Since you have a light rifle and assume you are talking about getting a carbon proof barrel or regular SS? Guessing you are sensitive to weight. Your price range is almost new Vortex Razor Gen II but they are very heavy. Leopold scopes are usually light. I know the silhouette guys used to use...

Rifle Scopes How to fix stripped action screw reciver

Agree with NiteQuill. This should probably be in the gunsmith forum. Maybe one of the moderators will move it. Lots of ways. Left hand drill bit might get it out. Otherwise a regular drill bit and easy out. If you do not know of either of these it might be best to take to your gun smith.

    Accurate. 22 options $500.00-$1000.00?

EGW makes a nice rail for the T1x. They also make nice rings or any rings you would use for the T3. Seekins/Vortex are commonly forsale in the exchange.

What is the 22 that you consider the most fun for you?

I don't know how you can't pick a 10/22 or clone. Being able to keep shooting and not having to run a bolt is great. With how accurate all of the aftermarket good, like Volquartson, have made them they are a load of fun. Love bouncing shotgun hulls around.

Problems (?) at the range with a cheap .22 single shot

I would go with Tortuga's suggestion. Usually a shift of POI when already lubed is caused by something moving. First shot out of my Anschutz at an A-36 target is always 3 o'clock in the 9 ring. 2nd shoot is almost always back to drilling the center and 3rd shoot you can shoot for score as it...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Rzr Gen III

If they do have something in the works it will be delayed. Asia just got pounded with COVID. If they are not still battling it, they were completely shut down for months. You really don't see this on the news but just my experience in dealing with manufacturers in the region. Like everyone has...

    Federson or kidd

No experience with Federson but my dad just got a complete Supergrade from Kidd and it shoots terrible. Wolf, SK, RWS, Lapua, doesn't matter. Got it to replace his Rugar with a Volquartsen barrel that veers to the left because the action isn't true and thinking about selling the Kidd. The...
