    What he said. I work at a company that does a lot of laser work so we always have round cutouts that are scrap. Paying scrap price is magnitudes cheaper than buying new steel and paying someone to cut it.

    Why not a 54? Had 1 64 action because it was too good of a deal to pass up and it didn't shoot nearly as good as the comparable 54 that I got after the 64. The 54 is heavier so if you are trying to make weight for silhouettes or something than I can see. For general shooting get the 54.

    Velocity is going to depend on barrel length(is all the powder burned) and the barrel diameter(a .224 barrel will be slower than a .2242 barrel).

    Loctite will not really do anything significant with the coarse threads they usually use on the injection molded stocks. A 2 part epoxy would be the way I would go.

    I don't know how you can't pick a 10/22 or clone. Being able to keep shooting and not having to run a bolt is great. With how accurate all of the aftermarket good, like Volquartson, have made them they are a load of fun. Love bouncing shotgun hulls around.
