    Remington 700 bolt

.100” or .010”? As far as I know, PTG or anyone else doesn’t offer drop in bolts for 700s. Edit: are these bare receivers you’re trying, or are there barrels on them?

Gunsmithing Gunsmith said this about installing a Tikka prefit

Things I think help. Have your barrel vise mounted to something that doesn’t move or flex. Use a vise with split round aluminum bushings that match the shank diameter where it meets the receiver. Don’t bother with anything between the clean, dry aluminum bushings. With the vise right up against...

Gunsmithing Gunsmith said this about installing a Tikka prefit

I just knew this blued Tikka that looked like it had been left out in the rain was going to be the one I finally had a difficult time getting the barrel off of…

    No Seam Muzzle Brake s?

Many brake makers don’t recommend turning down their brakes, but Muzzle Brakes and More gives minimum diameters. Very functional and good looking brakes and are super clean when timed and blended.

Who wants to boycott 3 shot group reviews & reviewers?

Out of all the things I lose sleep over, three shot groups ain’t one of ‘em.

Is it possible to re-thread a 5/8-24 carbon barrel?

I was going to say this, but knew the internets would shit all over me for mentioning a die in a muzzle thread thread. But in reality, on an established thread, that is likely a thou or two over, you’re not going to make it crooked. The only potential issue would be if the die will thread close...

Aero Solus stock barrel change is absolute war

Correct. I’m using one I made in 2008 that uses raw aluminum half bushings. And I agree, a vee vise is not a good choice for removing factory barrels. Everyone tries to put some sort of material between the vise and barrel when clean, dry raw aluminum works awesome and doesn’t hurt any...

Aero Solus stock barrel change is absolute war

I’ve no idea why people have so much issue with removing Tikka barrels. I’ve been doing a ton of them the last few years and haven’t had one that was even remotely stubborn.

Remington 700 bolt marks on breech

To clarify. On an empty chamber, there’s two things that stop the bolt from going forward. The front of the bolt against breech end of the barrel or the bolt handle on the receiver.

Remington 700 bolt marks on breech

Clearance could be a mile when locked up, but the bolt handle may be sitting pretty far back allowing contact on an empty chamber. The marks are a non-issue. As long as the bolt isn't touching the barrel while in battery with a round in the chamber, what ever happens when cycling empty or dry...

Using Tape on the back of a loaded round to check or set headspace. . . .

I don’t get on here much, but when I do and see Mr Cross has posted, I usually check it out. Glad I did! :ROFLMAO:

    What a good gunsmith

Their prints are different but they are common enough where the critical dimensions are the same. I cut both the same. They are interchangeable until they are engraved. The markings will not line up moving between an Impact and Fuzion.

    Lone peak actions.

They are great actions. You’re just talking to a builder that specializes in the wrong genre.

    Lone peak actions.

Not sure Fuzions were ever marketed as a benchrest action. That said, I cut more barrels for Fuzions than any other model, by far. Impacts next. Likely a regional thing.
