    6.5 Grendel Bolt action.

Wes1, that McMillan stocked Grendel is making me drool.... Are you using the full size AICS type magazine with the spacer in the rear to make it feed reliably?

    6mm GT

If this new 6GT is like the 6 CM but with lower pressures, a.k.a. longer barrel life, it might be interesting. Very interesting times we live in regarding the firearms industry!

Barrel Making, why so many in Wisconsin

Probably because we do have a lot of manufacturing, and hence folks skilled in the machining arts. Some other firearms companies as others have said are Midwest Industries (in Waukesha), Bravo Company Mfg. (in Hartland), Kolar Arms (in Racine. Really want one of their competition shotguns!!)...

Which rifle rest (front & rear)?

Thanks for the replies! Off a bipod or the bench, my rifle has been able to put up 0.5 MOA groups out to 300 yards, so it's not an accuracy issue. Just thought off a bench an adjustable rest might be more appropriate. There is a range around 2 hours away that goes out to 600 yards I'd like to...

Which rifle rest (front & rear)?

My current bolt gun is a Rem. 700 SPS Tac in .223, housed in a B&C Medalist stock. Although I have a Harris bipod, most of my shooting at my club is off a bench. While they provide sand bags (in somewhat inflexible plastisized bags that previously held 25lbs of shot), I'd like to get a front...

    Help .45-70 reloading

For fun, you should load some 300 gr. cast bullets at around 1,100 fps for some all afternoon fun! It's like shooting a big .38, or a small mortar round (has the trajectory of a mortar shell too!).

    Help .45-70 reloading

Yup, pull'em and start again (just had to do that myself with 30 rounds of 30-30, you'll feel better after). Not worth the risk, or prematurely wearing out a perfectly good Marlin.

So I guess I give up, I’m looking at Remington.

68 gr. BTHP Hornady's shoot equally in mine to the 75 gr. pills.

So I guess I give up, I’m looking at Remington.

I have a Rem 700 SPS Tac in .223 with the 20" 1:9 twist barrel. It shoots Hornady 75 gr. BTHP's really well with that twist (not the newer 73 gr. ELD's though). I took off the orig. tupperware stock and dropped it in a B&C Medalist, added a Timney 510 trigger, rail, rings and scope. Including...

    6BR vs. 243

That certainly makes sense at 20 gr. of H4895, but do you think the ES/SD would be too high if one downloaded to 80% - 90% of max, say 30.0 gr. would give around 2,600 fps extrapolating from Hodgdon's website? That would strike me as a very 6mmBR type load that I would imagine would give good...

    6BR vs. 243

Would simply downloading a .243 or 6mm Creedmoor with a powder like H4895 to 6mmBR levels get you 6mmBR performance from a case that feeds reliably? Hodgdon's website says you can use H4895 down to 60% of max charges safely. So if you're shooting a .243 with 107 gr. Sierra's, 60% of max...

Coming soon to your local PRS match...

Well, they currently offer a .243 and a .308 in the long ranger, and the 6.5 is a nice in between caliber for a rifle that has gotten good reviews. Can't wait to read an actual review (p.s. bought a color case hardened Henry 30-30 a few months ago and love it!)

    KRG Bravo Chassis

Didn't find an answer to this question in the thread, so I thought I'd ask. I have a Rem. 700 SPS Tac in .223 currently with the hinged floor plate. If I want to put it into a KRG Bravo stock and take advantage of the detachable magazines, is there really anything I need to do aside from...

Who Still Loads on a Single Stage Press?

I reload my rifle ammunition (.223 and 45-70) on a Lee Classic Cast I bought two years ago (with Forster and RCBS dies respectively), and couldn't be happier with it. Even if I could reload the 45-70 on a progressive, I wouldn't as I reload softball loads usually with pistol powder and a double...
