    Range Report 338 lapua range day h1000 vs retumbo

    My Savage loves Retumbo and the 300 Bergers. I run 92 grains at 3.69 OAL. They are running 2740 out of the Savage 26" barrel and are 1/3 MOA to 1000. They shoot really well all the way out to 1800. When this 8lb jug runs out, I may try a pound of H1000 to see how it works. -J

    JGorski, do you think you could get a part number off the die set you have. I'm wondering if I have the same seater stem as you. The bergers sometimes stick it the seater and it leaves a little ring on the bullet. Thanks, -J

    Are any of you guys using the Hornady dies? I am getting absolutely horrible runout seating the Berger 105 Hybrids with the Hornady seating die. Most are coming it at ~7 thousandths off, but some have been as much as 12 thous off. I've tried fiddling with these things for almost 100 rounds...

    I will be really surprised if you get more velocity out of Varget. I do not have any experience with 2000MR (Always wanted to try it), but I do with Varget and RL17. The fastest I can send a 178 AMAX safely out of a 20" Krieger is 2700 FPS. That is 49.2 grains of RL17. I could never get...

    I'm not familiar with this cartridge. How much 4350 or RL17 do you think that case can hold under that 105? BTW I shoot off the hood all the time. It's the only way to get high enough to hit long targets sometimes. I shoot the .338 at 1800 yards off the hood with excellent results.

    I've loaded up to 12 grains of Blue Dot under 180 XTPs and 180 ball. It's kind of hot so I have backed it down to 11 grains, and that seems to be a pretty accurate load that is still fairly warm. I believe they are doing about 1300 at the muzzle. This is for a new model Delta Elite. -J

    Trying the same exercise with one powder charge may tell you something. You know... Load up 20 rounds at 44 grains and shoot a couple groups with a hot barrel and few with a barrel you have allowed to cool down. Is the stock bedded? I think the POI is too great to be sight picture/cheek weld...

    Best bullet puller ever

    I got the set of three grip-n-pulls yesterday and tried it out. Worked great and did less damage to the bullets than the RCBS collett puller. I would say it is twice as fast as the RCBS as well. I pulled 10 105 Berger Hybrids. I can see if you had to pull over 30 or 40 rounds that your hands...
