    Scope for 12.5" 6mm ARC

My 12.5 shoots 108s over varget at 2335 fps. Supersonic to 950-1000. I threw a Primary Arms 1-6 with raptor reticle on there as it was a spare scope laying around. For all around lightweight/capability out to 900 yards and in and as a crossover hunting platform which option would you run...

Light Projectile Load for 6 ARC...

Thanks again - that Hodgden site was gold. Going to try xbr 8208 up to about 31.0 grains with the 58 VMax to see if the 7.5 twist will do alright. Looks like others have tried with decent success and velocity using that combo. Also - very aware of the load data differences for bolt vs gas. One...

Light Projectile Load for 6 ARC...

Also - looking at Nosler, and other PPC load data, it is nearly identical powders to those reference in the Hornady data for the ARC (not surprising, I guess). I guess I'll begin with 65 grain VMax and xbr8208. Again, looking to use powder I have on hand.

Light Projectile Load for 6 ARC...

Whoops - corrected above to VMax. Do you feel those powders I have on hand are good for the 58/65 class to achieve great velocities then? Specifically, Varget/cfe223/Lever/xbr8208? I'll check out 6 PPC load data to cross reference for a starting point.

Light Projectile Load for 6 ARC...

Looking to possibly load for varmints with a 58, 65, or 75 grain ELD M. Which would you choose given my barrel and current powder stash: 18" CF Proof 1:7.5 twist 58 VMax - I have no powders referenced in the Hornady load data 65 VMax- I have one powder in the Hornady load data (xbr 8208) 75...

OCW Test Results - 6mm ARC, 105 Hybrids, Varget

Gents - identical point of aim for each target. I just accidentally cut them out one inch differently on a couple so you can't see the original POA but the grids are identical. Really easy to see in the targets - just look at the position of the groups relative to the grid as the POA was...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

This is about the same I see on average from my 18" proof CF after about 60 rounds down the pipe. It started a bit slower and sped up nicely.

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Thank you - very helpful response. Is there a particular charge weight spread as a percentage that should be bracketed or simply find the spread that hits similar poi and load up in the middle to maximize load forgiveness? Example - is the same poi occurs across a .3 grain spread - but...

OCW Test Results - 6mm ARC, 105 Hybrids, Varget

Labradar was used. This is the top end of load data for velocity with Varget. The thing that's interesting to me in Dan Newberry's dialogue in the following video is his comments regarding crescent groups before nodes and scatter groups +/- 1.5%. Given this logic, if I assume that 27.0 is...

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Thank you - I shot this group at 41.5 as well yesterday just to test the known node. Since I want shooting a long string, the chronograph data logged reliably. This is the step where I typically start chasing my tail. When you say "looking between 41.1 and 41.7" - without a well-known node at...

OCW Test Results - 6mm ARC, 105 Hybrids, Varget

Shot this OCW this week and thought I'd share both for info to other ARC shooters and for input reading the OCW. I accidentally cut out the 26.8 and 27.0 groups 1 inch higher than the others, but this should still be easy to interpret poa vs poi. I've been reading up a bunch on this and am...

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Here's today's run based on Doom's advice above. Really disappointed that my Labradar data got jacked as there was another guy shooting an AR10 Creedmoor and a few of his shots ended up in my strings. Only know a couple of single velocities as a result - no idea where the rest belong. Lame. I...

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Thanks - valuable input. POI is messed up on one target (41.4) as I decided to change my reticle point of impact closer to the point of aim by .6 mils. Rookie decision. The others are accurate. I'll run again today as I'm enjoying learning how to become more efficient developing a load to go...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Also - to foul the barrel after cleaning, I shot 1 factory round and loaded 3 at .1 grains above/below my current load of 26.7 gr Varget under 108 ELDs and shot the attached group. Shot 1 - factory 108 clean bore fouler Shot 2 - first shot 26.6 Shot 3 - first shot 26.8 Shot 4 - second shot 26.6...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Alright - the videos above motivated me to test some Berger 105 Hybrids over Varget. Guessing many don't have access to these components right now, but may be interested. Let me know your thoughts on the attached OCW - hand fed and shot one round at each load (first time doing that and really...

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Hornady Brass - reason for rechecking is some inconsistent accuracy out of the 41.5 load I have piled up (about 100 loaded rounds left). Was interesting to see this data.

OCW Results - how would you read this?

Watched YouTube videos from Bangsteel Long Range Shooting School and thought I'd play a bit as I have two new loads to work up. Rifle is 2A Xanthos 20" CF Proof with JP internals shooting 140ELDs over H4350 from 41.0-41.5 grains. All groups are 4 shots. Result are pictured. I shot round robin...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

This is what I did/am doing. I've found both 105 bthp and 108 ELDm pretty easily and consistently available for reasonable prices online to shoot them for testing and brass. I consider reasonable prices to be $1.00-$1.30 per round these days. I have enough brass to reload for many thousands...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I just watched and re-watched those OCW videos. Inspired me to load up rounds to see what happens tomorrow! Will be testing Varget with both 108 ELDms and 105 Hybrids
