    Base to shoulder length

I have a Rem 700 in .223 that I reload for. I've begun developing 75 gr. BTHP and 68 gr. BTHP loads for it. I have some PMC brass that has been fired three times in this rifle. If I want to bump the shoulders back .001-.002", how do I determine the final length when I have brass with different...

Extruded powders "crunchier" than ball types...

Thanks for the tip VH20. The other thing I noticed is that the extruded powder doesn't seem to meter nearly as well as the ball type powders, with the H4198 dropping in a +/- 0.3 grain range. The TAC powder I run through the Uniflow is usually within a 0.1 grain delta. I will try your method...

Extruded powders "crunchier" than ball types...

Thanks all! That is what it feels like. I'll continue using it, and we'll have to see if the 45-70 reloads shoot well. Cheers!

Extruded powders "crunchier" than ball types...

I was just reloading some 45-70 rounds with a new powder which uses extruded granules (H4198). I noticed in my RCBS Uniflow powder measure that when rotating the arm to drop powder, it sometimes feels almost stuck until I give it a good pull down and feel a crunch of sorts as I pull it down. It...

Rifle Scopes Vortex PST Gen II

I too got a deal on mine through Vortex, and ordered it back in Dec. I received it a month ago. It is an awesome optic. I purchased the 5-25x50 FFP and am darn impressed. It replaced a SFP Vortex 5-15x44 which was just fine on my Rem 700 SPS Tac (in a B&C stock) in .223. I came upon the...

    Best Lubricants for AR's?

Another vote for Slip 2K EWL. Pat Rogers (RIP) uses it on rifles that have some pretty harsh firing schedules (certainly harsher than mine!) and it seems to get the job done. Living in the upper midwest, we too get cold weather and Slip 2000 works just fine in my BCM AR. Cheers!

Anybody with experience with bravo company? ARE THEY GTG?

Shot our monthly AR competition today. Probably 70% of the rifles in the racks were BCM's. The only rifles people typically have issues with are cheap AR's or frankenguns. There were two guys from BCM shooting, and the one had a 100 rd. Surefire magazine. They shot the two-man team shoot, and...

    Kalashnikov USA

Saw that article on Kalashnikov in the Wall Street Journal today (7/14).

Anybody with experience with bravo company? ARE THEY GTG?

Also have read that others have been super pleased with BCM's fighting rifles. I bought a Mod 0 .223 rifle from them a few years ago and have just over 2000 rounds through it with zero issues - no FTF, FTE, or anyother malf's. Only mods have been a Magpul sling and Aimpoint PRO RDS. Paul and...

    Empty resized case won't chamber

I full length sized the brass and them trimmed it with a Lee Trim tool. I shot some reloaded Black Hills brass this past weekend and will compare it's twice fired dimensions with the AR fired PMC brass.

    Empty resized case won't chamber

Thanks for the reply's! I like the sharpie idea and will try that tonight. I will also take a few of the non-chambering cases and bump the shoulders back another thou or two. If that doesn't work, I can take my once reloaded (twice fired) Hornady cases that have only been fired in the Rem 700...

    Empty resized case won't chamber

I have a bunch of once fired PMC .223 Rem cases. They were fired in my BCM AR in 5.56//223. I thought since they are .223 cases, I could resize them in my Forster FL resizing die and they should fit my Rem 700 .223 that I have and reload for (I don't reload for the BCM AR). So, I deprimed the...

    What press/presses are you using?

I'm using a Lee Classic Cast for my precision .223 reloading (with Forster dies) and reloading 45-70 artillery rounds (RCBS cowboy dies), a Dillon SDB for pistol calibers (9mm, .38, .44 and .45 ACP) and a MEC 9000 for shotshells (skeet and sporty's). Super happy with each one of them for their...

    New trigger or trade up?

Thanks for the reply's. I don't need a two stage necessarily, just a lighter trigger than I can adjust the stock trigger to. Sounds like the Timney 510 it is. Other thoughts welcome though.

    New trigger or trade up?

I currently own a Remington 700 SPS Tac in .223 I use at the club I belong to to shoot paper and steel. The club has 25 – 200 yd. ranges. I have found that Hornady 75 BTHP Match ammo will group around ½” MOA out to 200 yds. if I do my part. I have taken the original Tupperware stock off the...

Sig Sauer SSG 3000 full write up and myths clarified.

I thought I read somewhere that when these were introduced to the US market, they were going to offer it in .308 and later have replacement barrels in .260 Rem. Anyone else know if other caliper barrels are/will be offered? Something more efficient than .308 would be great in this rifle, as...

Good cheek pad for Tacticool stock?

I have the Triad Tactical stock pack mentioned on my Rem 700 and it works well. I do have the one with no pockets or ammo loops, just a stock pack. Thinking of buying another for the Rem 597 .22LR I am building up whose comb isn't high enough for me.

Any experience with the Remington 597 Heavy Barrel

Well, I picked up a Rem 597 HB in .22LR a few years ago (the one with a wood laminate stock and 20" heavy barrel), but have only shot indoors (50' or less) until now. Last year I built my first rifle, a Rem 700 SPS in .223 with a Vortex Mil-Mil scope and B&C scope. As my local range only goes...

Is that too expensive, or cheap??

.22 LR ammo is back to normal

Found some CCI Std Vel. at Gander Mtn. of all places today. Not a great deal at $4.99, but not bad. Also had some Federal high vel. and on a pallet had some Rem. .22 and CCI Mini Mag and CCI Swamp Rat (or something like that). Maybe we're getting close to normal'ish.
