    Re: 18" 7mm-08 I get 2750 out of a 25" with a hot load. 2600 would be about right.

    22-6mm information/help

Re: 22-6mm information/help I had one with a 1-12" set up for lighter bullets. It never shot all that well. Just too much case for a 22. I don't think 22.5 moa at 1100 yards is reasonable to expect. And when you compare barrel life and wind drift there's just too many far better cartridges...

    Re-barrel or new rifle?

Re: Re-barrel or new rifle? Leave the M24 alone. A 7WSM would be my choice for that kind of distance.

Re: What Magnification Do you shoot 1K? As much as the mirage will let me get away with. With the cooler spring we've had my NF has never come off 22X.

Re: Rebarrel options for a long action 270 The 280 or 280 Ackley would be great but I would go 24" min. and preferably 26"+.

    7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's

Re: 7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's RL17 is what I'm using. I picked up about 50fps over H4350, with excellent accuracy. I think it might work good in the 284 too.

FOUND - OLD Rifle from WWI . PICS

Re: FOUND - OLD Rifle from WWI . PICS Looks like a pattern 1 Mk3 with the magazine cut off. Very cool find with all the extras! IMO the pattern 1 rifles with the mag cut off are the coolest of the smle's.

    7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's

Re: 7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's 30 Sniper, absoultly, but he's talking about 22". If I were building a 284 I'd go 28"-30" and watch the fun happen. I talked with Seekins a few weeks ago and his WSM bottom metal will work with a 284 on a SA 700. The inside mag oal is 3.140". Probably...

    Length of pull

Re: Length of pull LOP varies by the trigger to grip distance and comb height. There is no lop that is always the same for you unless the above are the same gun to gun. The best way to figure it is your thumb should be about 1" away from your nose when comfortably mounted. Don't confuse eye...

    7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's

Re: 7-08 vs. 284 Win Pro's and Con's The ballistics work out to the 284 having about 1.5" less wind drift at 500 yards and about 8" less at 1000 in a 10 mph cross wind. {708 162AMax .625bc at 2650, 284 180 Berg .648bc at 2750} To get this you burn 10+ more grains of powder in the 284 with...

    Gunsmithing Removing 700 barrel?

Re: Removing 700 barrel? You need a barrel vice and action wrench. Depending who's you order your looking at $125-$300 of tooling. Your local gunsmith would be alot cheaper.

    Gunsmithing Silver Soldering Barrel Nut?

Re: Silver Soldering Barrel Nut? I would always expect the poi change your getting from taking a barrel on and off. If the action has been single point trued with a barrel fitted pretty tight you might see less. I would just refer back to Top Cats post and go with it.

    Gunsmithing Deeper than no go

Re: Deeper than no go I'd want a damn good explanation. It probably comes down to some shade tree gun plumbers bs about how his uncles, cousins, next door neighbors brother won a benchrest match in 1948 with a 219 Wasp chambered that way. OR he's an engineer. Their the worst at telling you...
