Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56

Ordered a Gen 3 several months ago and it came this afternoon. The turrets are every bit as good in locking and tactile feel when dialing as the Gen 2s I have. Parallax is a little stiffer but the magnification ring is considerably easier/smoother than my other Razors. Hopefully they’ve got...

Help w max MOA rail for Razor 6x36

Mathematically a 60 base will work; in reality, it might not. A 60 MOA base DID NOT let me zero at 100 yards with my scope; bottomed out I was still 2.6 MILS high. I have an ERA-TAC adjustable base so I went with 50 MOA and all is good. With this set-up, I have over 31 MIL of UP elevation. YMMV

How Do You Set The Zero Stop On The Gen 2 Vortex Viper

Zeros can shift slightly for various reasons. When I help shooters with the Gen2 PSTs, I highly recommend that once you bottom out the turrets in step 1 that you come back up about 1 MIL or 2-3 MOA before removing the outer turret. Once removed, continue with disengaging the inner turret and...

Inexpensive 22lr target scope? Arken or Athlon or other?

As mentioned above, the Vortex Strike Eagle is a very good option especially when based up to 40-50 MOA depending on your individual scope. We have one shooter who is using a 50 MOA base and zeros at 50 yards and has 30+ MILs of up travel and able to dial out to 400+ yards. Another shooter tried...

Rifle Scopes Razor Gen 3 Zero Stop

Exactly. If you're using a 20-25 MOA base, you're not going to get the total amount of travel. I'm using a 50 MOA base on a centerfire and get 32 MILS of up elevation zeroed at 100 yards. I've not tried using a 50 MOA base on a RIMFIRE and seeing if I could get a 50 yard zero; one should be...

    Freebore vs Jump

Custom reamer...custom problems. Any time you design/order a reamer cut for a specific bullet with a specific freebore, you MUST be aware of throat erosion/increase of freebore and your bullet's ability to bridge that gap. As a general rule, throats erode at roughly .002-.004 per 100 rounds...

    Bad E-S's

Are you new to reloading? A lot of guys on this forum would LOVE to have your numbers. But...as others have said, it's what happens on the target that matters.

    CCW Zero Distance

Go shoot an IPSC, USPSA or IDPA match and come back and tell us what a good zero is. As mentioned above, most defensive shooting situations happen at VERY close range. When I was shooting, the IDPA qualifier had a stage where you shot a torso target with 3 shots coming out of the holster, 2 to...

Scope magnification for 800 yards or so.

While every shooter is different in his preferred magnification range, I agree with "Secant" and that the 4-20 is a good power band for most shooters. Let me add though that it also depends on your eyes and the line weight and reticle style. For instance, I've been happy with the Vortex Razor 2C...

    ARC Nucleus vs. Bighorn Origin

Just to clarify, the Origin is now stainless as well. I would not say the Origin is basically a TL3 with "cheaper parts"; the cost reduction is basically from having fewer options (like scope rail cant and tang design) and using round stock for the action body which only results in not having an...

    Bolt Action for $2500 Max?

With the availability of good shouldered prefits, I'd suggest looking at putting one together yourself and getting the components you want. There are several good entry level actions such as the the Bighorn Origin, which when paired up with a Proof stainless prefit barrel, would be around $1500...

Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56

My order was among the first to be place for the Gen 3 caps and placed on Jan 13; I received them on Jan 29th. Fit and quality is up to their exceptional"standards" and, in my humble opinion, the only scope caps to purchase and why they are the only ones I use

Vortex Razor HD Gen III 6-36x56

If you want more travel, increase your base MOA. I’m zeroed at 100 yards using a 50 MOA base and have 34.5 MILS of usable UP elevation.

Moa loss with change of scope rings?

Area 419 does not make a 20 MOA base for the CZ457 (choices are 15 MOA, 30 MOA or 50 MOA) so it sounds like you went from a 30 MOA base to a 20 MOA base which could explain the difference.
