    Rem 700 bolt replacement questions

I was kind of afraid of that. The thing is, I don't really need another rifle, I just want to do something useful with this one.

    Hydrostatic shock question

They did. It's part 2: Spoiler: They both did very well at 2200 FPS. Neither did well at 1800 FPS. Minimum impact velocity is somewhere between the two -- probably about 2000 FPS, which is right around 600 yards for most manbuns.

    Rem 700 bolt replacement questions

    - Yes, I'm aware of PTGs reputation. Some bolts are available on Midway and other places, but not in left-hand that I can see. - I do plan on going the Remage route. Having re-barreled a Savage, I'm a fan of the barrel nut system. Other than the "look" of the nut, I'm not sure why they're not...

    Rem 700 bolt replacement questions

First off, I admit to knowing pretty much dick on this particular subject. I've done some research, but some things are not entirely clear. I have done quite a bit of "bubba-smithing", including assembling ARs, glass bedding, and replacing Savage barrels, so I'm not completely inept. Scenario...

    Hydrostatic shock question

I don't know if it's technically "hydrostatic" but look at the shock the ballistics gel takes here: In one case it flies off the table. That's the "shock" that knocks animals over.

IMO, rattle can is a bit "ghetto" for such a fine instrument. I used Duracoat and an air brush. I don't recall it being any more difficult to paint than any other gun. Take the skins off, clean it up good (I use brake cleaner), rough it a bit with fine steel wool or similar, and mask off...

*OOPS! Mixed 1 lb. of RL23 & H4350... Will I blow my face off?

The correct answer is toss it or use it for some homemade fireworks. Even if you could make it work, you'd have to burn up a bunch of components just to figure out a load that you could never replicate.

    7mag help

That's good, but I have a feeling when that new brass becomes once fired, you may have problems again. I would try to give the chamber a polish as others suggested.

    7mag help

I had this exact same problem with a new 7mm R700 a few years ago. I sent it in to Remington and they fixed it, although they didn't say how. -- I assume they polished the chamber. I know they did not replace the barrel. The problem occurred with both factory Federal and my Hornady brass...

odd... you're the only guy I've ever seen even hint at the idea that the SRS trigger is less than excellent. I know you didn't say it was garbage, but your lack of enthusiasm seems to be the outlier in the bunch. I have a lot of nice aftermarket triggers on other rifles, and I can't see...

    Suppressors First round flyers

Update. I had the same problem with my 22-250 using H4895 and Varget, both pushing the 53 V-max. For example: This only happens with my 223 can. When I put on the 30 cal can, there's no issue. Of course the answer is "just use the 30 cal can dummy". Well yeah, I can do that, but I really...

    Chassis right or left

Trust me, you'll be so much happier with a lefty rifle, and it won't take long to get used to it. I'm right handed and left eye dominant. I grew up shooting right handed because that's all we had and all you could get. I was in my 20s before I made the switch and haven't looked back. --...

22-250 Best Bullet Weight for a 1/14 twist

Just about anything will work on the minimum side, but you'll be limited to about 55 grains on the maximum side for conventionally shaped bullets. For VLD / ELD style bullets, the maximum will be less, maybe only 50 grains. For example, Hornady says the 53 grain V-max needs 1-12 or faster to...

The ATF responds to Solvent Traps Made by Diversified Machine

Curious: What was Diversified Machine doing different than other "solvent trap" companies to draw the ire of the ATF? Were the "baffles" pre-drilled or something?

The ATF responds to Solvent Traps Made by Diversified Machine

No one with a suppressor "poses much of a threat". These bullshit laws only exist out of pure ignorance.

Savage Impulse seems to be rarer than unicorn teeth. Has anyone bought one?

I get that, but since they make it in a 22-250, and that's what I want, seems like the one to get. I don't think a factory 308 take off barrel would fetch much in resale.
