Help with scope for .22 Precision rifle

Currently have a Ruger 10-22 that shoots pretty well and I thought I was happy with it. BUT after reading all the threads on .22 rifles here I think I need either a CZ457 or Tikka. The Ruger seems to get good reviews but in handling one at LGS I don't warm up to the plastic stock. Anyway I'll...

Way too much flex in my stock

I used a piece of key stock and epoxy to stiffen one of my stocks. Worked great.

    Dial Calibers, Good Brand??

My Brown & Sharpe have been serving me well for nearly 35 years now. Don't see much reason to change.

Who's your go to reloading supplier?

Agreed with above about gun shows. Get most of my powder and primers there. Bullets, I shop them for best price then load up to help with shipping.

When doing load development what is a "node"?

reading thru this makes me want to go back and check my loads again. Both my .308 and 6.5 loads shoot very well out to the ranges I have been able to shoot (out to 300yds). Recently found ranges close to allow me to shoot out to 800yrd. As I too thought that small groups at 100 would correlate...

    Gunsmithing 1/2” Torque Wrench

Wow, I have built several AR,s over the years and never used a torque wrench. Guess I really did not know it was needed?? Before retiring I work as an industrial mechanic and I guess I got use to knowing how tight was tight. But then again never had to work on any space shuttles. ;) Just a...

    Ruger 10/22 Hold Open

I to would like some user feedback on this. I have had my ruger 10/22 to Clark Custom gun for the accurizing job. I though it would include something like this but did not. It did include a better mag release. Also rechambered and new crown for barrel. Best $149 dollars I have spent in a...

Rifle Scopes Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 or Athlon Midas Tac 5-25

Another vote for the Athlon ETR seres. I have two, one on a .308 and the other on a 6.5CM, like them both.

Rifle Scopes Scope and mount advise

You have a very healthy budget for what you are looking to be shooting. I would look at the Bushnell DMR or the Athlon ETR searse and save $1000+. Use the saved money for ammo and trigger time.;)

Sidearms & Scatterguns Favorite pistol caliber

Love the 1911 .45's for shooting but for carry I opted for a .38 sub nose. Then I tried a 9mm and now I tote a sig 938. I don't hunt but did have a S&W 460 for awhile which I believe would do the job if I did hunt.

I also have found that not being able to dial in parallax is a problem, at least for my old eyes.

    Tikka or Badrock

Badrock Precision is going to cost you more but as others have said you get what you pay for. That being said I have a Tikka in .308 and it will shoot with any rifle on the range out to 600 - 700 yards. All stock with exception of stock (hate those plastic stocks). When I got mine there was...

    How stiff is too stiff

Good info above. I neck size for about 5 or 6 reloading's then run them thru a FL die and start the process all over again. Lors of guys don't let them go that far but I don't push the load too much so I am not having any problems. Of course when the primer pockets get loose I throw chink them.

Lapua 6.5cm small rifle primer brass

From what I have read (no personal experience) is that most run magnum primers. Not sure if the extra cost makes that much difference. Anyone?
