    Why Not Reloder17 in .338LM?

The Sierra manual lists 78.2gr of IMR4350 as the accuracy load for a 300gr SMK .338LM. Since Reloder17 and IMR4350 are so close in burn rate, I'm curious if anyone has pursued this load combo. If there are no glaring reasons why not, I might try this.

    Savage .338 lapua grouping issue.

Re: Savage .338 lapua grouping issue. +1 on the cleaning the snot out of the Savage .338LM 110's. When I first shot mine, velocities were slow, groups were large, copper fouling was massive and took way too long to get clean. A nylon brush made a sound like a zipper when pushed down the bore...

Gunsmithing Barrel Crown Cutter/ got it cut &crowned

Re: Barrel Crown Cutter My smith told me to find a ball bearing 1/10th of an inch larger than the bore and some lapping compound, and cut the crown myself. It took about 30 mins. This 16" chromoly AR15 barrel went from 3 moa to 1 moa.

    Savage .338 lapua grouping issue.

Re: Savage .338 lapua grouping issue. I'm getting the same OAL, 3.775", with the 300gr Bergers in My 110FCP. My mag has 3.850" stamped on it. The 300gr Scenars max out to the lands at 3.700" on the nose. They also clocked at 2850fps with 93gr Retumbo, grouped 1.285" at 200yds

    Savage .338 lapua grouping issue.

Re: Savage .338 lapua grouping issue. PacNor is first on the list, as I wait for my disposable income to build back up. Another cost that is hard to quantify is the cost of time & materials while trying to work out the bugs of a budget priced factory bargain rifle. Going the custom route...

    Savage .338 lapua grouping issue.

Re: Savage .338 lapua grouping issue. I have the Savage110FCP HS in .338LM. I have burned through 120 300gr Bergers, 20 300gr SMK's & 15 300gr Scenars, with only two 1" groups to show for it. At first, I thought it was my lack of experience with larger magnums. All testing done at 200yds with...

    Daniel Defense 18" S2W Barrel

Re: Daniel Defense 18" S2W Barrel I called DD yesterday and they said that the description of the 5.56 18" S2W barrel being chrome line is incorrect. This barrel is entirely nitrided. I know,... there IS no such thing as a partial nitride bath.

    Daniel Defense 18" S2W Barrel

Re: Daniel Defense 18" S2W Barrel Midway now lists the 5.56 18" CHF S2W barrel as nitride finished, and states that it is more accurate than the chrome lining process. The Daniel Defense website describes the 5.56 18" CHF S2W barrel as having an outside nitride finish, & being chrome lined in...

AR10 Break in ( Not the barrel)

Re: AR10 Break in ( Not the barrel) +1 on running wet. I've got two of them, & they both needed break-in that way. Both are reliable now. So far, a stuck ejector on the rifle & carbine each, and a bent extractor on the rifle at the 1200rd mark. I'm partial to the Armalite.

Member Link Up All Oregonians check in !

Re: All Oregonians check in ! Yeah, that was me. I found a decent load and took 5 shots from 1330yds, couldn't make it happen though. The guy I was shooting with nailed the 4" orange square in the center of the steel on the third shot. It was a privilege to be there. I won't be out banging...

.308 Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR? Range report

    Re: .308 Barnes Match Burner + PP2000MR? Range report Back in 2-12-12, 50deg F, I tested this bullet/powder combo at 100yds in a 27" 5r Rock barreled Rem700 and got these results: 46.7gr 2770 2769 2768 2778 2766 2781,.96" group. 47.1gr 2771 2777 2759,.46" group. 47.3gr 2785 2780 2777,1.12"...

    Re-sizing after annealing

Re: Re-sizing after annealing I could not drop a bullet into the case, but I did notice inconsistencies with neck tension. When pushed in by hand, some would not take the 168 amax at all, and others would allow me to seat completely if I persisted. Since I am trying to wring as much accuracy...

    Re-sizing after annealing

I've got 3k pieces of once fired LC brass from the late 60's early 70's. I annealed them to preserve the necks & shoulders, but I jumped the gun and did it after I already sized it. The ammo will be shot at 500+ yds from rifles capable of 1 moa & better. Should I re-size again?

PTR-91 PDW 308 Close Quarters Weapon Accuracy?

Re: PTR-91 PDW 308 Close Quarters Weapon Accuracy? This weapon has an 8.5" barrel. Data for the shortest barrel I can find at the moment is for a 14" barrel, shows a 150gr fmj doing 2500fps. Subtract 50 fps per inch of barrel lost, that comes out to 2250fps or so. This bullet will be...
