    Gunsmithing Howa barrel removal question

Re: Howa barrel removal question $300 is too much to pay for just barrel removal. If that is for rechambering and installing the new barrel as well, then it sounds reasonable. TC

    Gunsmithing Converting WSM action

Re: Converting WSM action ...and this would be doing things the hard way. Some folks would regard the Sako 75 in a WSM caliber as a very desirable hunting package, so an option would be to sell the rifles you don't want anymore and buy what you want now. TC

FN PBR XP 20" Fluted barrel questions

Re: FN PBR XP 20" Fluted barrel questions The PBR XP is basically an SPR action with a much lighter barrel and a Hogue stock, so would be a good fit in your stable. All the ones I have seen have shot well. You should try to handle one to see if you like the Hogue stock or not. I think FN is...

    Savage concerns

Re: Savage concerns I have a few Savages but they are not the bargains they used to be. Many manufacturers are in the same ballpark now, cost wise, so design and QC would be the factors I would look for in making my selection. TC

7mm RSAUM vs 7mm WSM? I need help!!

Re: 7mm RSAUM vs 7mm WSM? I need help!! 7 Rem Mag...7 SAUM...7 WSM... There is no significant difference between them from a ballistic standpoint, they will all provide nearly identical performance. In other words, your 7 Rem, if tuned up would do whatever the others will, it actually may...

    FN PBR

Re: FN PBR FNs are good quality. 16" PBR is an older model, and most of these were built on the push feed action, I believe. A 16" barrel won't deliver all of the velocity that the 308 is capable of, but is handy. It depends on what you want to use the rifle for. TC

    6.5x55 Hunting Rifle Build

Re: 6.5x55 Hunting Rifle Build 6.5x55 is a fine round, but there is no practical real world difference between it and the 260 Rem. Case capacity is nearly identical and 260 fits in a short action, so if you are looking for a lightweight handy hunter, I would consider just picking up a factory...

300WSM Tikka T3 Lite or Savage 11 LRH?

Re: 300WSM Tikka T3 Lite or Savage 11 LRH? Look at the Kimber Montana and Win Extreme Weather SS and put them into your bag of choices as well. Possibly some skim bedding, but otherwise two very capable and ready to go hunting rifles right there...if you like stainless. TC

    Re barrel to 7WSM

Re: Re barrel to 7WSM Here are some thoughts... A rifle is a system and many factors contribute to accuracy or the lack thereof. A rifle with a long throat can still shoot well, so the long throat may or may not be your issue. You haven't mentioned whether or not you bedded the rifle and...

Load development with new brass? of fire form 1st.

Re: Load development with new brass? of fire form 1st. Your load development with the virgin brass should be close enough to the once fired brass if not identical. However, I would not blindly FL size your cases every time. Just adjust the sizer to sizer to the bottom of the neck and...
