    6.5 barrel length / velocity

    Well actually the 308 will be ballistically superior at those short ranges. The heavier bullets of a 308 actually have more terminal energy out until just over 1000 yards. Inside of the 1000 yards my 308 load (175g SMK-HP at 2697 fps from a 20" barrel) has more energy then my 6.5CM (140g AMAX)...

    Here is the deal. AI makes an AX mag used for actual real AI-AX rifles, they also make an AICS-AX mag. The stock you have is an AICS so you need to use that mag not one made for an AX. An AICS-AW mag will work but not suggested by AI. This is the mag you need to buy #6955 is the AI part...

    I have an HDMR mounted on one and have Badger Extra High mounts, High would probably clear but would be really close. With a stock with an adjustable comb there is no reason to be worried about getting it as low as you can go.

    I would get the Eberlestock, drop a rem 700 in it and go with a short 16-18" barrel. It would be beyond amazing and with the folding stock would fit in a small backpack. Light weight and super stealth. Cool thing is it's super rugged and at the distance you need 16-18" 308 is all you need...
