    Jekyl, Since your heart is set on a "new" rifle, .243 can't be beat in the ranges you were talking. Otherwise down load the .270 with 130gr bullets and recoil could drop significantly. Or, maybe, a new stock which fits her better.

    Thank you, DFOOSKING. I really, really,.... didn't want to spend anymore money on this rifle after the purchase price. I just was hoping to match accuracy of my boys' CZ. So far, the 'smith I trust has barreled two rilfes for me which I can't out shoot. That is good enough for me.

    Congradulations on the new and the 2.5 yr old. Nothing is wrong with ART. Hang strong, kids will pick the habit if you don't tell them it's odd. :) Kind of like cleaning a litter box, it has to be done and this is the way we do it. They will never catch on before high school if you are lucky.

    Guys, sorry my google fu isn't better, is it common for the barrel to be loose in the receiver on a 541s? I get about an 1/8th inch movement vertically when holding the receiver firm. How do I search properly? Thank you if anyone can help.

    .243 bullet weight vs. barrel twist rate?

    I had really good luck with bullets at or under 100grs. I didn't push as fast as Justinbaker so, mabye, that is/was my problem. Speer grand slams 100gr would hit a pop can(soda can) at 300yds 4 out of 5 shots(my son driving) off a bench. Rem 700 BDL.
