I just bought a CTR in 223 and read the horror stories about the barrel and pic rail, and both came off with alomst zero effort. It's wild how different some stories are with pulling these rifle apart.

1. By the Choid/ATF logic, is every formed freeze plug, or machined cone, every tube, and every threaded end cap a silencer part? How much of a billet piece can be machined away before it stops becoming a piece of metal and becomes a silencer part?

The born and raised outdoors model with the 24” barrel was discussed on here a few months back. I’d have to go back to find the post though.
The plastic hand guard cover thing is different, not sure what it’s purpose would be.
Just an FYI, MDT raised their prices after Jan 1, the XRS went from $500 to $650. I was looking at it or a Bravo/X-Ray and now will probably go the KRG route.

I sent an email to Sig customer service asking about different bolt heads and barrel extensions. Figured it can't hurt that they know people are interested. Will update if I hear anything.
I clicked on it to see if anything relevant happened. The answer is a resounding no. But let's you and I add more back and forth arguing to it, that helps.
Buy the knob, or the knock off 17 dollar version on ebay and thread your bolt yourself. It just takes an hour or so to grind, sand, and thread the knob. At a minimum you can buy the knob and check the clearance yourself. The Badger instructions are very straight forward. I can say that the...
