Great to see you giving the reloading scene a chance! Makes me wonder if your 6.5x47 was a casualty of timing... :p
I learned a lot of stuff searching for that "perfect" load for my JP (which isn't going to be exactly applicable since NO two rifles are the same and because it was a heavy/long...
Thanks for all the great ideas! I definitely have a few options to try, sounds like I'll be trying diamond shapes, and contrasting circles.
Really appreciate the help!

I'm curious what type of targets others have found to work best with tactical type FFP reticles, specifically I have a Leupold Mark 4 ER/T 8.5x25 with their TMR reticle on a 338LM, and a Razor HD 5x20 with EBR-2B reticle on a heavier 308 bolt gun.
I'm asking this because I realized today at...

Couldn't agree more, sir.
Natesguns, sorry but I'm not sure what my OAL on that was, I know it fit into the magazine of my Savage 110BA though. As Enough Said suggests I only really use base to ogive measurements as well, start to finish.
I've followed the instructions on Bergers website FAQ under "making them shoot" where they say to make a .040" interval seating depth test, from zero jump clear out to .150 (or something close to that)
I found in my Savage 110BA that the .120" jump was the best.
After reading the "Making it shoot" article on Bergers website and following their recommendations of .040" increments seating depth steps from 0 to .130 jump, I found the "sweet spot" they spoke of to be at .120" jump! I'd never have thought a VLD would shoot well that far off the lands, but...
Well said, Mr Thomas. I've discovered the frustration you speak of first hand, at considerable expense and countless time. I couldn't agree more with your comments.
My $.02 is look into the Forester collet type trimmer (which I do NOT prefer as a trimmer) equipped with their neck turning...
First off, I'm jealous of your source for brass!
My $.02 earlier was more of a reflection on my own state of supply (or lack of) than a direct reflection on your stated concerns, and I apologize.
To the best of my knowledge there are no concerns/issues with your proposed plan. Those should...
If I were you I wouldn't "waste" that 223 brass, since its fairly optimal for its intended purpose and doesn't offer any advantages when converted. Since annealing only softens the neck and shoulder fully, and the head/body of the case needs to remain "tempered" to withstand chamber pressure...
I'm also interested in RL33, with 300g bergers. I'm curious why most posters emphatically endorse Retumbo, but don't seem to provide any reason why. Low SD/ES? Good velocity for pressure? Temp insensitivity? In my own limited experience Retumbo proved satisfactory, but not excellent. I find it...
