    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials Yes the Thumlers motors will get warm. If I remember correctly about 120F is pain threshold. 155 at one second exposure will give you 3rd degree burn. Forget what it is for second degree. Mobil 1 synthetic oil is the key to keeping electric motors...

    300 wm speed variation

Re: 300 wm speed variation Such a big shoulder movement on fire formed cases is completely normal in 300 Win Mag. That is why the L.E. Wilson Magnum Case Gage is adjustable. I set my 300 Win Mag to just bump the shoulder back .001 to .002". No problems and longer case life.

    reloading at the range

Re: reloading at the range I believe it is in the NRA Reloading Manual, there are plans for a portable bench. You can even rig it with a swing out seat but I did not. I had one for years I took to Camp Perry and put together in the hut and it came in very handy cleaning rifles etc as I had a...

    Twist, weight, and velocity tables?

Re: Twist, weight, and velocity tables? Do not go below minium published charge weights as you are asking for a catastrophic failure due to anomaly in propellant ignition.

    Confusing .308 reload results...solved!

Re: Confusing .308 reload results You can also have a barrel that is not stress relieved properly and when it starts to heat up it bends. The "dollar bill" method was the standard for a thousand years but with the plastic stocks being so flimsy and prone to shooter induced error from bipod...

How many times can .308 brass be reloaded?

Re: How many times can .308 brass be reloaded? Wow, never heard that kind of case life on Fed cases. How old are they? Maybe they changed and added in another draw to make them tougher after reading a few million complaints about short life???? Whatever you are doing, keep on keeping on as...

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials Both work fine. If I was ordering I would get the high speed. I have both a slow and a fast. Lube the motor with Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil (5W20) or so and it should last forever.

    Lapua brass failure - UPDATE

Re: Lapua brass failure - Help me diagnose please You have classic insipient separation from case fatigue which can be brought on by excessive chamber size and excessive sizing. But first a few questions: 1. what was diameter of fired cases from old barrel at the base measured .200" up...

    Twist, weight, and velocity tables?

Re: Twist, weight, and velocity tables? You can google "Greenhill Formula" and there are plug ins. You measure the length of the bullet you want to load and it will give you the twist rate it will take to stabilize it. Basically the longer the bullet the faster you gotta spin it to stabilize...

308 Velocity Variation in 20" Barrel

Re: 308 Velocity Variation in 20" Barrel Try this. I have a form I made up years ago that on the top I have all the important questions, rifle number, caliber, barrel maker, type chamber, propellant number/weight, bullet type/weight, sizing of case, primer manufacturer, temp at time of...

How many times can .308 brass be reloaded?

Re: How many times can .308 brass be reloaded? The name of the game for long brass life is when you resize it, that it moves the absolute minimum amount to allow it to go back in and bolt close easily. There are several ways to achieve this and this is how I do it. I will be addressing 30.06...

M118LR is tight in the chamber of my GAP

Re: M118LR is tight in the chamber of my GAP You have a shorter throat which is good. Your barrel will last longer. I have a reamer I have to set back 30.06 match .065" to get it to close. It takes about 500 rounds to wear it in for me. Your new cases should measure .468 measured .200" up...

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials I just opened a drum with cases that have been tumbling four hours(slow motor). 99% clean which is not surprising in that these cases have probably been fired thirty times and NEVER cleaned in their history. I changed out the water and added about 20...

    Subsonic Reloads

Re: Subsonic Reloads 12 twist will easily stabilize 190 MK to 1000 yards if YOU KEEP IT ABOVE MACH 1 to run 1000 yards. The MKs when they drop below MACH 1 will lose stability a bit after 900 but accuracy will still be there. Trying to keep them subsonic for a longer range is really an iffy...

7mm RM, how many reloads from brass do you get

Re: 7mm RM, how many reloads from brass do you get 6 to 8 reloads is about right for commercial brass which is all you are going to find for non military calibers. You can get some Wolff primers (Russian made) which are a tad wider than US production and get more loads out of a case when the...

    Why is this happening?

Re: Why is this happening? First off get your position and technique consistant which is gun on bags in same place each shot, same cheek pressure, same grip etc. You want to become a machine rest with absolute repeatability. 2nd "older barrel" depending on how it was cleaned and rate of...

    Flat shooting round?

Re: Flat shooting round? barrel life on the smaller bores is definitely an issue but this can be helped a bit by cleaning properly which is: 1. get the bolt out and get a wet patch down it just as soon as you can after firing. 2. follow this by wet bronze brush and scrub it hard. 3. follow...
