    Sako Trg 2013 upgrades

Some questions to expand the knowledge base a bit: What was the exact nature of the failure? Was the failure type identical in both triggers? Was the trigger stock factory adjusted, or was it adjusted by you before failure? How many rounds were on the rifle before the trigger failed? Any...

    AIAW or custom build??

What kind of accuracy do you need? My AW shoots in the 0.2s MOA with my handloads. It is virtually always under 0.5 MOA with gold medal match ammo. It is no benchrest rifle, but then again a benchrest rifle is not made for what the AW is either. In terms of accuracy and reliability in a wide...

Training Courses Magpul Dynamics Precision Rifle I Course Review

No. I've never had to use high power shooting steel even out to 1200 yards (in. .308 - bigger bore would be different at longer ranges). At high power mirage becomes an issue and usually you have to dial it down. Higher power is useful for more benchrest style/F-class shooting though. But on...

Can't decide on what sling to get...

A USGI web sling works well for sling supported shooting/stability. You can get a cotton one if you want a better grip on your arm, or a synthetic one if you think you want better water resistance. Personally I prefer the cotton because it is less slick when put over clothing. You can mate...

    Prices for used TRG-22 rifles?

The only risk with buying a used TRG is the previous owner screwing up the trigger. The TRG trigger is great, but is particular about some things. The process goes like this: New Owner: "This trigger on the TRG is the best I ever felt! But, I just feel compelled to twist these screws on it...

    Sako Trg 2013 upgrades

The ejection on the TRG-22 is OK. I've never had an issue with it, but it is not terribly enthusiastic about throwing the brass. It's more polite and makes a nice neat pile next to the weapon. The trigger I'd be most interested in myself. The current trigger is fine and has never given me an...

    AI AE MKIII Accessories?

I just use a USGI sling with sling swivels and it works great. The AI sling is just mediocre. It has too many sliding bits, adjustments and the HK hooks which are problematic. I use the AI bipod and it works well. My only complaint is the legs like to shoot out when you fire it in non bipod...

    The 308 at 1000 yards??

Assuming you are running Sierra Match King 175s around 2650fps, you will need around 10.7-11.2 mils or so. Depends on altitude, temperature, etc. But that will get you near the target. You really need to know the muzzle velocity and the exact round with proper G7 ballistic data though. 1200...

Winter Shooting Sako TRG-22 and Observations on Gear

I own a TRG and AIAW. The AIAW feels very solid and I love shooting the rifle, but I am not going to sell the TRG any time soon. I still shoot the TRG and it has a lot of very positive attributes. It's honestly a toss-up for me between the two rifles. The AIAW wins for absolute ruggedness above...

I hope you aren't hunting reindeer with that thing.

Winter Shooting Sako TRG-22 and Observations on Gear

I saw similar posts. I'm thinking the broken stock must have been a mfg. defect in that lot. The stock on mine has been reliable and comfortable and I'm not especially gentle with it. For feeding, yes I think my AI feeds smoother. I've never had the TRG really give me an issue. At least, no...

Winter Shooting Sako TRG-22 and Observations on Gear

Nice. That looks like it would be pretty comfortable for sitting in a ground blind. It would be pretty funny to show up at a shoot and throw down the Reindeer pelt.

Winter Shooting Sako TRG-22 and Observations on Gear

Hiking downrange for shooting drills at unknown distances. Introduction A couple years ago I was able to take a High Angle Rifle Training (HART) course at Thunder Ranch. The HART course focuses on long range shooting from awkward field positions and angles. During this course we were hit...

Help me choose first LR rifle

The mods just introduced seem more evolutionary. They have done that through the years. So the trigger was made more robust in some areas, same for the bolt and bolt retention lever. Haven't played with one to know if it is worth it or not for an upgrade. The fundamentals of the stock, receiver...

Help me choose first LR rifle

The TRG and AI will hold value best. Other factory builds are likely second. Customs are the worst in many cases, but it depends who did the work. But then, I don't buy stuff based on what the next person will pay for it. I will buy what is best for me off the bat. So if you think you need a...

Help me choose first LR rifle

One thing with the TRG though is you also need to budget in money for at least one spare magazine and the TRG bipod which is a must have on that rifle.

Help me choose first LR rifle

You are getting a rifle that is going to work under any conditions you are likely to face and has been tested by numerous militaries to do the same. You will not need to get a gunsmith to mess with it, ever. You will not have to buy stock upgrades, barrel upgrades, magazine upgrades, bolt...

Help me choose first LR rifle

No I do think Beretta service stinks. But that was my experience. Others have had great experience with them. You can get most TRG parts direct from Brownell's as well. But most importantly, TRG rifles have very few problems anyway so service is unlikely. I own a TRG and AI and honestly it's a...

Help me choose first LR rifle

If you get the TRG and decent scope you may never have to upgrade anything ever again. It will be accurate and reliable. The AI AE is also an excellent rifle, but is heavier. It would be hard to go wrong with either. But if you think the TRG stock fits you better than others then I'd consider it...

Sako TRG 22 Muzzle Brake - is it really necessary?

The heat from your barrel will distort the target image if you are doing a long string of rounds. A band of cloth, plastic, etc, goes from the muzzle to the receiver end creating an air gap lowering the chance of barrel heat interfering with the image.
