    Problems finding seating depth

This morning I was trying to measure the C.O.A.L. on my R700 5R 300 WM with 190gr Berger vld hunting bullets. I was using a Stoney Point C.O.A.L. guage and comparator to measure to the ogive. I was getting measurements from 2.807 to 2.840. I just am lost as to why. I was using it the same as I...

    Boattail....not always the best!

Re: Boattail....not always the best! It might be a stupid reason, but I like boat-tails because they are easier to seat. I have never had trouble getting them to shoot up to my requirements at close or long range so I don't see any reason not to use them.

    Recommend 22LR ammo?

Re: Recommend 22LR ammo? CCI standard velocity works well in my 452. It runs about $7 for 100 rounds. I haven't found Wolf locally to try out. Auto-match shoots a bit better than the Wal-Mart federal bulk.

about to start reloading my 1st batch of 300wm?

Re: about to start reloading my 1st batch of 300wm? I like to run all new brass through a full length resizer to make sure everything is in spec. Obviously once you get your rifle you can adjust the die to bump the shoulder, but for now just run it according to the directions. I trim the...

    primer seating quetsion

Re: primer seating quetsion Just to be clear; are they going in straight, or tipping and going in sideways? I had problems with primers flipping when using the press arm on an RCBS. I had to adjust the primer arm.

This could get interesting. Bolt vs Semi .22 rifle

Re: This could get interesting. Bolt vs Semi .22 rifle I personally could never recommend a 10-22 to anybody. I've had three of them and could never get one to function properly. I tried several different kinds of ammo and they would all jam every 15 rounds or so. These were bone stock...

TC Benchmark 22lr - ammo selection

Re: TC Benchmark 22lr - ammo selection I had a TC classic about ten years ago. I traded it off because it would double fire once every couple of mags. Accuracy was decent but I only shot bulk through it. I have gotten great results with CCI standard velocity, but I don't know if it would...

Top Shot on the History Channel

Re: Top Shot on the History Channel I really dont see why they would lie about the distance. Some of them got real close in a shot or two but you could tell the wind was blowing which could screw with anyone. As far as George goes, he was a douche to the ones who were not in his little...

how to put a tac bolt on a savage 22?

Re: how to put a tac bolt on a savage 22? I've seen a few threads about this, it has been done. The cheapest way I have seen is to use an epoxy to build up and shape the existing knob, or you can have it threaded. Try the search function.

    Nikon's new P-22 rimfire scope?

Re: Nikon's new P-22 rimfire scope? Finally got mine to the range yesterday, and took it back to the store today. The turrets are loose and rattle just a little, but made an annoying ping when I shot. I probably could have lived with it, but there was obviously something wrong with the one I...

CZ Rings or Picatinny Base For CZ 452?

Re: CZ Rings or Picatinny Base For CZ 452? If you plan to shoot long range (>200 yards) the 20 MOA would be a help. The scope has 80 MOA of adjustment. Just make sure the rings you get are tall enough, the bolt handle will hit the ocular housing.

10-22 Light Varmint or CZ 455 American?

Re: 10-22 Light Varmint or CZ 455 American? I've had three 10-22's. I was not happy with any of them. Constant jams and a terrible trigger don't make for fun at the range for me. I just recently picked up a 452 and love it. The trigger had a lot of creep out of the box, but I picked up a...

    Rifle Scopes Nikon spot-on
