    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

We all have different eyes, so perceptions can be a little different. Still, I've lost count of how many scopes go through here in any given year. They come and go. Some stay. The 3.5-21x44 stayed and gets used quite a bit. I test rifles and optics all the time. I also go spend time at the...

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

I run thermal clip-ons a lot, partly for work stuff and partly for hunting pigs. ILya

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

That's a tough call. For hunting in low light, I would lean toward the Mk4HD by a little bit. For overall use, I like the Delta a little more. I use clip-ons quite a bit, so the shorter Delta works better for my purposes. ILya

    Vortex Razor LHT

I still have my original one. It has not skipped a beat. I have tested a few more over the years. The simple truth is that vast majority of the time, when scopes fail, it is some sort of a catastrophic error where it is obvious (reticle falls out, etc). This whole "small zero shifts"...

    Vortex Razor LHT

Most illumination issues are battery related, but those push button switches can also get finicky. They do keep the side focus turret compact. I did a whole livestream with Scott on scope failures a little while back.

    Vortex Razor LHT

A while back I had a chance to look at the service data for this scope. If memory serves me right, there were a few that came back because the illumination push button was acting up. All other complaints could not be tracked down to any scope problems. The couple that I have tried to...

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

I have both of them. Mark 4HD 4.5-18x52 has an edge in low light due to a larger objective. I also like the locking turrets for hunting. Stryker has better FOV on the same magnification and is shorter with a larger adjustment range. In terms of pure image quality, it is pretty close. I...

    Vortex Razor LHT

Real FOV is what the scope sees. Apparent FOV is Real FOV in degrees multiplied by magnification. Apparent FOV determines is how big the image looks to your eye. ILya

    Vortex Razor LHT

It is not listed. It is the same for both HD-LHT models

    What happened to US optics?

It was started by John Williams Sr, who has indeed passed away. Then it was run by John Williams Jr, who is alive and well. The gentleman who used to post here is John Williams Jr. ILya

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

A few years ago when the 3.5-21x44 was first conceived, i used to consult for Delta. The initial concept behind this scope came out of that, largely because i was semi obsessed with a compact precision oriented allrounder at the time and formulated a set of requirements for it. There are a few...

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

That’s further than i ever shot with it, but it does have a ton of adjustment range in case you need it. It basically comes down to how much value you place on compactness. I would be perfectly comfortable using it in that function, but the simple truth is that if you are going to spend the bulk...

    What happened to US optics?

That's pretty accurate, except it is John, not George. He sold the company and is alive and well. He did move out of California. I talked to him a couple of weeks ago. When the company was sold, it was first heading to Montana. It turned out that there were some shenanigans between the...

    Delta Stryker 3.5-21x44 DLR-3

The 3.5-21x44 Delta is a newer design than the 4.5-30x56 you have, so the apparent FOV is wider. It is not quite as wide as on the XTR Pro, but close.

What would be a slight step up from .

The simple truth is that 90% of people who argue about $4k scopes, buy $2k scopes. Those who foam at the mouth over comparative merits of $2k designs, usually end up buying a scope for $1k. I spend a lot more time on high end scopes because I am an optics snob and I like them, not because...

What would be a slight step up from .

It would be a boring world if everyone always agreed on anything. The catch with new companies is that it is very hard to determine who is a "fly by night" company trying to make a quick buck off of cheap Chinese OEM'ed scope and who is trying to do the right thing and grow into a serious...

What would be a slight step up from .

A few comments. Vortex does not currently make a 56mm objective scope in the $1000-ish price range, which is more or less where you need to be in order to offer some sort of an improvement over DNT The One. The closest Vortex has at the moment is the Strike Eagle 5-25x56, which is a nice...
