Advanced Marksmanship A-5 advantage over A-3

Re: A-5 advantage over A-3 I think the only real advantage is the wider forearm, and some would say that's not much of an advantage. I think it's more popular for two reasons: it's comfortable (at least for most people) and some think it's the best because it's the "latest and greatest."...

Mk 12 SPR 77 Gr Sierra King Match

Re: Mk 12 SPR 77 Gr Sierra King Match I'm getting 2652 fps with that bullet out of my Centurion Arms upper. I've shot it out to 760 and it's been pretty consistent. JBM shows supersonic out to just past 800 at 80 degrees and 500' in elevation. So, it should be doable. You'll probably be...

20moa cantilever base for 30mm tube?

Re: 20moa cantilever base for 30mm tube? Since you don't need QD, you could get a Badger Ordnance 22 MOA AR riser rail, then use regular 30 mm rings. I do this on my .308 AR and AR-15 and it works great.

Are they worth it? Phoenix Tactical Pod Claws

Re: Are they worth it? Phoenix Tactical Pod Claws I have a set of Pod Claws, and while they're great on soft soil and grass, they're not very good on concrete or other hard surfaces. For me, the most versatile option is their rubber "MOUT" footing. They have more surface area than the...

.308 Semi Advice For a Noob

Re: .308 Semi Advice For a Noob Just out of curiosity, are you planning on getting a muzzle brake? I have a GAP AR-10 (not the GAP 10; I purchased mine before the GAP-10 was out) and originally got it with a 20" barrel and a Badger Thruster brake. I got the muzzle brake because even though...

    Aviation Career

Re: Aviation Career Before joining the military to fly (any branch), get a few hours on your own. I say this because I knew quite a few guys and gals in flight school that joined to fly then found out they didn't like flying. Some guys didn't like all the work, some guys just weren't...

Range Report Why are you still using the 168gr Match round?

Re: Why are you still using the 168gr Match round? I shoot 168 gr FGMM out of my AR-10 (at paper and steel out to 600 yards or less) because I can usually get it cheaper than 175 gr FGMM. I tend to burn through it faster with a semi-auto, so it just makes sense to shoot the cheaper stuff...

    Decent range in northern VA?

Re: Decent range in northern VA? Check out Quantico Shooting Club. Range 1 goes out to 300 yards, Range 4 out to 1,000 yards. It's hit or miss as to whether or not it's available for what/when you want to shoot, but the folks that run it are nice guys and put on some good F-class, F-T/R...

Need some recommendations for AR10 build

Re: Need some recommendations for AR10 build Are you sure you want a 20" barrel? How far do you intend to shoot it? I have an 18" that's good to go to at least 800 yards with FGMM 175 (maybe more, just haven't have the chance to shoot farther). The AR-10 platform can get heavy, so a heavy...

    We got any swimmers here?

    Gunsmithing Carbon Fiber Stock

Re: Carbon Fiber Stock Most McMillan stocks can be made with carbon fiber (what they called their EDGE stocks), but must be special-ordered. I have an A1-3 EDGE and love it. The only disadvantages are that you can't have adjustable hardware (such as an adjustable cheekpiece or buttstock)...

Rifle Scopes About To Drop The Hammer...

Re: About To Drop The Hammer... I have a 4-16X42 single-turn CCW on my GAP AR-10 and its just about perfect. Once thing to keep in mind is that you'll probably need some sort of angled mount to get the full elevation range. Just for the heck of it, I mounted the scope without one, and with...
