    Coated Bullets

They are just fine and typically accurate enough. The money savings is definately appealing. Back off about .5 gr of powder from jacketed data. I have never had good luck with plated bullets.

Rayner's Range March 2017 Match Results

Those results are interesting as in the top 48 places, there is only 1 rifle that's not a 6 or 6.5mm cartridge.

Range Report 460 S&W Rifle Info Request

I just ordered a couple of barrel blanks with intentions of building a Savage in .460, but using a .308 bolt head with the 45 Raptor brass.

    Rayner's

I'm not going to make this one, so a couple of you better bring a spotter. Also, route 60 was closed again last weekend, so expect to take the detour just in case.

Range Report 460 S&W Rifle Info Request

That 45 Raptor would make a cool bolt gun if someone was to make a Savage barrel for it.

Add me to the list of mags to be sent back. I just got it a month ago and might have 100 or so rounds through it.

What is the best why to make Ackley brass for a 223

I've already built one of them and it feeds Ackleys just fine. Green Mountain sells cheap blanks that seem to shoot pretty well. Re-chambering an existing barrel seemed like it would be a pain since you need to shorten the existing barrel 1/8" or so to get a good AI chamber. That means removing...

What is the best why to make Ackley brass for a 223

I'm about to build an AR15 in .223 AI so I can get some brass formed pretty quickly. Figured it would also be fun to shoot at multigun matches to leave funny cases laying around for the brass scavengers.

Cutting Down A Barrel: The unknown ins and outs of those who've been there and done that.

I'd expect about 40 fps per inch, but of course that can vary with powder used and such.

LSS chassis on a Savage .223

The rifle is a 20" .223 Hog Hunter that I reamed out to .223AI and so far I like it. Figured I might buy a Criterion in an 8 twist eventually, but this barrel is fine for forming brass at least. I decided to try out one of the LSS chassis for the latest Savage rifle I acquired. It takes any...

    Thoughts on 22-250AI Fast Twist?

Smokin250, I'll have my 22-250AI at Rayner's this weekend on Saturday if you want to check it out or discuss anything. I'm running 80gr Nosler Custom Competition bullets and they seem to work pretty well. They are running 3,250 as a forming load and a bit over 3,300 as an AI using H4831sc.

    Rayner's Range .... road work ...... detour

I used the detour as directed above and it's pretty simple. If you are coming from Zanesville you pretty much just turn right to cross the bridge at the intersection where Subway is in Duncan Falls. Front St is a pretty nice road that runs right along the river. The Rayner's have put out signs...

Rifle Scopes Burris AR-1X 3X Prism Sight or Vortex Spitfire 3X Prism Sight?

I can see owning one of these in the near future. I'm thinking the Vortex reticle is less cluttered and be more useful for up close targets. I would be buying a 1x and it's purpose would be 100 yards and under multigun shooting. If buying a 3x, the fov would be my main concern.
