    Using Pistol Primers for rifles

Re: Using Pistol Primers for rifles This doesn't apply too directly, but I've burned up many a pistol primer in black powder .45-70, .40-70SS and .40-65 loads. The pistol primers are actually shorter, and will back out to forcefully "bump" the breechface upon discharge. This has caused some...

    midway varget

Re: midway varget Placed my order bright and early on the 26th. They didn't bother to send me any notification, found out it was a no go when I called. I hope some of you get your orders filled.

    Gunsmithing Brownells action magic 2?

Re: Brownells action magic 2? Snake oil. At least, I did not find it beneficial.

    midway varget

Re: midway varget Just called Midway, as they never bothered to notify me. The word is "there is no more Varget, and we won't backorder." I know these are unusual times, and everybody makes mistakes, but their previous e-mail message of, "Great news! Your order is on the truck.," strikes me...

Rifle Scopes Base and rings on rem 5R

Re: Base and rings on rem 5R If you're not wedded to the idea of "designer" rings and bases, call EGW and order their Picatinny base (in the cant of your choice), then shop the various online vendors for a set of Burris XTR rings, 30mm, low. The whole set up will cost a bit less than $100...

    SSG-82 "Wall Rifle" info?

Re: SSG-82 "Wall Rifle" info? I have one, and have dusted some rocks with it out in the desert, but haven't put it on paper. I intend to do that before too much longer. Beware of the brass-cased RWS "Match Ammo" originally sold with these. It generally doesn't want to extract, and I'm told...

    173 grain M118 bullets...

Was cleaning out my bench recently, and discovered a small lot of DCM 173 grain M118 bullets. Anyone have a proven .308 load using AA2520, IMR 3031 or Varget? Given the current scarcity of components, I'd like to shorten the load development process. Thanks in advance! Jim

    Gunsmithing modify aT-7 press?

Re: modify aT-7 press? I realize you've got a fine new press and you don't want to switch, but if in the future you do, look at the Co-Ax. Just acquired one, and I LOVE that slip in / slip out die feature! Back to reality: Check Enco or MSC for tap availability and cost, and if you can get...

Help with load for 200 gr SWC 45 ACP (lead)

Re: Help with load for 200 gr SWC 45 ACP (lead) The old standard full power load with Unique was 7.5 grains with the H&G #68 bullet. I came to prefer 5.7 to 5.8 of WW 231. It meters through the measure like water, and is good for 925 fps or so out of a 5" Bar-Sto barreled Colt. That load...

    Remington 5r

Re: Remington 5r Hello Anthony C- Yes, they're available. I spoke with the distributor for these (AcuSport), and they had a small pile of the new .223s, but none of the .300s. I'd have grabbed one for stock, but the .223s are (regrettably), in 1-9" twist. Cheers... Jim

    AW/AE/AICS mag diffrences

Re: AW/AE/AICS mag diffrences Rolex- Really appreciate the good info, you've answered some questions I was pondering over. It seems to me that double-feed AW mag would be easier to load as well. Cheers... Jim
