    Temperature affecting groups

Love the new title of this sub section by the way... Maybe I never noticed it before, but I think it may have changed... Anywho... With the winter months fast approaching, I usually hibernate into my recliner and don't venture out into the cold Wisconsin temperatures, but I thought this...

Sidearms & Scatterguns compact reliable .22 pistol?

+1 on the 22/45 lite. It shoots great, has a threaded barrel and is lighter thana Sig Mosquito. Also not as picky on ammo...

Newbie to reloading. Tumbling brass vs ultrasound cleaning

SS pins also cleans the primer pocket if the old primers are removed. The only downsides to SS pins are the higher cost of the tumbler, and the extra time needed to rinse the soapy water from the brass then let dry. IMO there is no better method of cleaning the brass, but it does take a little...

    10/22 precision barrel needed

I'm planning a 10/22 build and want a precision barrel for it. I don't know much about what's out there and actually don't even have the 10/22 yet. I'll be swapping the stock out to something nice also, but I want to get the barrel first. I'm hoping to stay around 300 for the barrel if...

Newbie to reloading. Tumbling brass vs ultrasound cleaning

I started with a corn cob vibratory tumbler, then went with SS pins in a rotary tumbler, then got a ultrasonic cleaner. I like ultrasonic the least for brass. Obviously SS pins best.

    Weird problem shooting...

I do remember now that the second target, the one with the 20 shots and the questionable group, were shot with probably a good half hour to 45 minute wait from the first target, since my brother came down and we talked for a while. Which means that top left group was shot with a cold fouled...

    Weird problem shooting...

I think my next course of action should be, now that I think I'm happy with the load, I'll load up some more ammo, then shoot them all in the magazine. I can't see how loading from the mag could have caused the problem. I can see fatigue, or barrel temp, although I was probably shooting once...

    Weird problem shooting...

No, but I did double check all my screws and the torque specs were all good, nothing loose. Maybe "I" had a screw loose....

    New gun vise

Thanks! I happen to have a CNC plasma cutter so the only actual cost I have into it is the knobs and carriage bolts. Otherwise, yeah... I would have bought it complete from them. Just curious... How long and thick is the main bar? I think I should have made mine longer than 22", and it looks...

    Weird problem shooting...

I don't "think" I'm slamming the bolt forward too hard. I'm pretty sure I was closing it the same as when single feeding, but I could be wrong. I'll double check next time. Thanks.

    New gun vise

Here you can see it completed and mounted to the corner of my bench. You can also see the spacers I painted to match. They were made by drilling through a 1X4 and 2X4, with a 2-1/4” hole saw, then sanded smooth, and drilled out to 7/16” for the bolts. I used the 1-1/2” spacer to space the...

    New gun vise

Since I’ve been doing more gunsmithing, I’ve been looking for a good gun vise for a while now. I tried a couple of friends like the Caldwell and Tipton Best, but wanted something more solid. Then last year I ended up making my own and was pretty happy with it. It’s very solid but it’s a...

    Weird problem shooting...

Thanks so far, for the advice. I am using standard dies, not crimping, and I anneal after every firing. I am trying to keep everything as identical as possible but I can see where the recoil could be affecting setback. I'll also keep working and try to be more aware of my shooting positions...

    Weird problem shooting...

I think I have a goofy problem that I’d like some advice on… since I've been load testing, I’ve been shooting one round at a time, single feeding them, with an empty magazine. I pull one cartridge from the box, set it in the open chamber, close the bolt, aim and fire, then open the bolt, store...

    XLR Chassis Stock

I'm glad I didn't see that new stock design... I really like the hook on it, but I really like the holes in my old design stock.... I wouldn't have been able to decide which one I liked better, and I'd never order the thing!

    XLR Chassis Stock

What's with that lower part of the stock? That is the carbon stock right, with the tactical butt stock? I like that hook on the bottom! Not sure what I like better, the hook or the "speed holes"... They both look great though. Kyle, is that a new thing.
