Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 shooter Jinxed with G-17?

Great motivational video. The one thing I notice is when he is holding his rear thumb up where I was he is tending to hit left about where I would have been doing the same. I can only strive to get that fast with the glock though, lol. We will see in September at the Trijicon/PNTC match. The...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 shooter Jinxed with G-17?

AWESOME REPLY! ^^^^^^ I have been dry firing for a couple hours and am seeing definite improvement on the feel of the trigger with the above instructions. Your synopsis tells me there were several things I was doing wrong for this pistol!! I will try these changes out tomorrow for sure...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 shooter Jinxed with G-17?

Stock set up. I believe 5.5 lbs. Pulling with center of end finger pad. 200 rounds downrange in first two days trying to see wtf I am doing wrong. I am surrounded by 1911 shooters here, so no immediate help.

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 shooter Jinxed with G-17?

So, Here is the deal: After 20 years of shooting 1911's almost exclusively, I got a G-17 gen 4 for my 40th birthday. (Thank you wifey :D). Now I am impressed with the function of the gun and it has obvious good accuracy. However, my precision when shooting the gun seems jinxed. I...

Large change in accuracy with barrel temp

What powder? Less temperature sensitive powders such as 8208xbr and H-1000, etc. may help here.

DD m4v5 government profile barrel accuracy

If you go to the HBAR they are generally sub MOA. I run one to 600yards or so with a 1-4 PST and 77 grain smks at 2660fps are impressive (8208xbr if you want to know). This rifle shreds a nickel to quarter sized hole at 100 yards with handloads between 55 and 77 grains. Ball ammo is just over...

Is 1 in 7 twist too fast ...

As stated above , bulk/surplus 55's and 62's are not going to win any benchrest competitions, but they may pleasantly surprise you. I have seen lots of xm-855 shoot just over an inch at 100 and lots of 55's not far behind more than once or twice. Bench it, shoot it, and then blast away as...

Rifle Scopes What REALLY happens if you turn elevation knob too far?

I stripped out a Leupold mk IV 3.5-10x40with m3 turret upon bottoming out the elevation knob stretching out to 1300yds with my 308/175's(had to use another couple of mils or so of elev to get there on the reticle) . I did not immediately know I had done it, as I just spun the knob at a normal...

    1907 sling treatment

Saddle Soap works well. I used 1907 slings on deer rifles for years in all sorts of weather, and they turned dark but held up well. They were buffed every year or two with the stuff.

Hunting & Fishing Another hunting death

Had a long response to this written, but in short. What works in one place does not in another. Those hunting with loaded chambers were taught differently than those of you hunting with an empty chamber, but not incorrectly. Most of us started as kids walking the woods on hunts with our dads...

    Fall 2013 ASC scores

First, I apoligize to the shooters for it taking me so long to get these posted up, but it has been one of those "interesting" weeks for me. The Fall 2013 Allegheny Sniper Challenge was held in the Allegheny mountains near Seneca Rocks, WV Sept. 13-Sept. 15. I would like to...

Range Report Can you make this cold bore shot? --Poll

I would submit the following: It is more important to understand the conditions that limit your personal range to make that shot on an 8" gong. I have made cold bore shots with a 308 at around that distance on a slightly larger plate, but certainly not near 90% of the time (3000' ASL)...

Hi guys, thanks to all the shooters who participated in the spring ASC match. I had a great time working as RSO for you all. Mayors against guns...ummmmmOK

To begin with, I wish this man a long stay in a cell with "bubba" and am not one bit surprised at the hypocrisy shown here. Next, a mayor is ELECTED, not a public employee. Please don't confuse the two. Second I love the popular disdain for the "public employee" so much when my salary(which...
